实现氢硼聚变。
以氘氚为材料的核聚变反应将产生大量中子，当这些中子冲击核反应堆壁时，会产生
放射性同位素。虽然与核电站所使用的核裂变反应所产生的废料相比，核聚变反应所生
成的放射性核废料要清洁得多，但从长远角度来看，探索新的、更干净核燃料非常有必
要。
聚变过程中，如果产生的中子能不超过总输出能量的1%，相应的聚变被称为无中子聚
变(Aneutronic Fusion)。无中子聚变能够减小中子辐射带来的各种问题，同时极大地
降低生物防护、远距离控制及安全等方面的要求，有可能实现更干净、更经济的可控聚
变能源。
氢与硼的同位素（p-11B）是一种人们非常感兴趣的清洁聚变燃料，氢硼反应能够生成
单能的α粒子（2.888MeV），可以直接转换成电能。此外，不会产生中子，放射性比煤
燃烧还要少。但是如果利用球对称激光点火，要达到氢硼反应，聚变燃料的密度需要压
