《纽约时报》网站的观点栏目发表致歉声明称，文章中任何有关李显龙“不是凭自己本
事走到今天这一步”的暗示都是无意之失。
《纽约时报》的国际版本《国际先驱论坛报》(IHT)2月15日刊载了这篇题为《家族政治
》(All in the Family)的文章。
《纽约时报》同时向曾接替李光耀出任新加坡总理的吴作栋致歉。
代表上述新加坡领导人的律师辛格(Davinder Singh)告诉路透说，《国际先驱论坛报》
的发行人、《纽约时报》海外版主编以及上述争议文章的作者Philip Bowring同意向李
显龙赔偿6万坡元，向吴作栋和李光耀分别赔偿5万坡元，同时承担他们的法律费用。
辛格称该文章存在“诽谤”，上述新加坡领导人要求《纽约时报》道歉并作出赔偿。
