An interesting study by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) provided some
very telling graphics around income distribution changes relative to which
groups paid the most in taxes. Amazing how politicians can both take the
same data and spin it in different ways.

state tax filing, etc.
You may have seen me post this before - if so, this is just a reminder. I'

AGI是adjust gross income的缩写,不是利息收入的意思.
1040表第一页有好几个income,第一个数字是earned income,就是把W2表和1042S表的收
入加进去,有个total income就是把earned income+利息收入和其他列出的收入,然后
adjust gross income是你的total income减掉examption(treaty),IRA等.EIC的计算看
两个收入,就是earned income 和AGI(1040表第一页的第一个数字和最后一个数字),用
这两个数字查表得出两个数值,哪个低就是EIC.

Starting in 2011, all U.S. payment providers including PayPal will be
required by the IRS to report sales information about certain merchants to
the IRS. Power sellers on eBay and other online selling websites will be
impacted by this new tax requirement. Before PayPal did not report your

最后发现一个问题
比如我2012 叫了 1000的 state income tax
但后来income tax 要补交 500
那 1040 schedule A
上 income tax 那一项我是应该填 1000 还是 1500 呢
还有一个问题是 我去年搬家 生活在两个州 一个是没有州税的
那在itemized deduction 表上可不可以
income tax/ sales tax 那一栏 可以 填 州A的 income tax
加上 州B的 sales tax
还是要么全是用 income tax 要么全是用 sales tax

我们交i140/g28时律师是gross annual income那里填了一个数字, net annual
income填了non profit, type of business 填的也是university
所以现在不知道是否保持和i140/g28上一致,也是gross annual income填一个数字,
但是net annual income还填non profit?
查了一下律师交140时的材料,里面有学校的audited financial statements,里面很容
易算出gross/net annual income的数字。
但是至少从您的case里说明对non profi类的包括大学net income这里是可以不填具体
数字的。

believe is not a factor you can easily figure out. You can go to payscale.
com to find the starting and mid career income and also you can use census
for median income by career, median income by location and also inflation
for the last 15 years. With these data you should be able to get the salary

I think the following are counted into incomes after retirement age:
1) salary
2) any gain/dividend from stock market (although the gain rate may be lower)
3) withdrawal from 401k, traditional IRA
4) min distribution required by IRS
Those are not counted:
1) withdrawals from roth IRA
2) withdrawals from pension
Some are not sure:
1) ss benefit (for low income, then ss benefit is not counted as income, for
high income, then ss benefit is counted as income)
I am pretty sure some of them are wrong.

+了啊。不过看大家讨论的内容,这也就一般般的水平。这个20w+是不是household
income啊?我还特意google了一下美国的Money Income of Households,2009年的数据
是总的median household income是$49,777。他们的调查了117,538 households,其中
23,749 households 的household income超过10w,占大约20%。我顿时感到压力巨大
啊,看到这么多前辈们都跻身到美国收入的前20%,或者是前5%(?),我得奋斗到
猴年马月才能过上好日子啊!!!!!!或者我找的这个统计数据里面的household
income是指别的,有其他的计算方法?比如扣除所有的税和花销而剩下来也就是存款?

没有income没关系,可以用你的作为household income。这个不是欺骗,法律上允许的
。我做题帮LD申Chase的卡时清除地看到类似字眼:if you have other source income
that routinely pay your everyday bills, you can consider it as your income.
未必是原话,但清楚地就是配偶的income可以用。
你的困难可能来自ITIN,因为很多系统可能过不了,因为ITIN的数字跟SSN很不一样,
所以可能会被自动据掉。

基本情况,我目前phd在读,我和老婆都是non-resident alien,家里有一个不到两岁
的娃
我目前在填写州税退税表,Ohio的1040EZ,我去年有三个月在外州实习有收入,如果不
算下面所说的这个earned income credit,我还得给Ohio倒过来补税,但是如果算上,
就有下面的问题了。(我怎么记得外州的收入不需要给本州缴税啊)
1040EZ表line 13有个Earned income credit,根据instruction,这个主要包括
Schedule
B,Schedule C, Schedule D,其他两个还没研究,但是这个schedule B有个叫做“
Child care and dependent care credit”,再查instruction继续算。。。
总之就是我算出来的这一项Earned income credit比tax还多,导致“Ohio income tax
less earned income credit”算出来负数了,这个make sense么?

前两天和一个公司同事聊天意外讨论到一些关于怎样避免股票交易的state income tax
。同事在加州生活有一个full time job。他在NV开了一个LLC,然后所有trading
activity都log在这个LLC上。他的TAX是pass through,有一些标准的business
deduction。他宣称每次股票交易都开车到NV(我持怀疑态度),然后有trip log。因
为NV没有corporate income tax 和state income tax,他每年只支付联邦的capital
gain tax。他说只要证明在加州没有business activity,就不用交capital gain tax
。他说profit付完联邦税以后重新invest回公司,不算个人的pass through。
想和大家探讨一下以上操作是否合法?profit pass through以后难道不应该算是个人
的income然后付居住州的income tax吗?
我的理解是他的公司作为一个NV的entity,正常付联邦税,他个人作为business owner
