我在Chicago附近的农村，刚开始买车的时候很多人说是个很漫长的过程，有点不以为
然，觉得二手车不是到处都有嘛，dealer网站和cragslist上天天有更新，deal不奢求
，找辆一般的还是小case。简单把要求列了下，也就是年份、mileage、预算啦，然后
carfax干净就行。当时也没想太多，正好有个朋友刚买了车，就让他参谋。这时候才发
现很多问题，比如对于大部分人，还是希望自己的车个方面都很完美的。至少在预算范
围内，carfax没有各种不良纪录（比如accident, salvage, rebuilt...），最好是< 3
任车主，98年以后，另外不要mileage太高，我觉得<10万最佳，颜色不要太另类，不要
rental的，不要超过20mile远的，然后是几个比较reliable的车型，如几个牌子的日车

发帖数: 464 | 17 99年的Oldsmobile Intrigue，在停车场里坏掉了。
开始的症状是车打不着，即使jump也没用。考虑到车车的电池这么久了，也没换过，就自己换了新电池。好了，车于是能启动了，但是power
steering又罢工了，电池灯也亮了。上网查了一下，怀疑是serpentine belt出问题了，果然是这个belt断了。然后买了个新的belt换上，但是车依然打不着。糟糕的是，后来又陆续试了几次，还是不成，而且新的belt也断了。
昨天下午把车拖到一个修车铺（在yelp上评价不错），今天人报告出来了，说是空调压缩机的pulley坏了，把belt磨损了，整个空调都要换。由于我这款车的空调压缩机在engine下面，拆卸/安装是如何麻烦，于是总要价接近$1400。懂行的同学们，帮我看看，这靠谱吗？这老车还值得花大价钱修吗？

发动机？其他修理不过百十块。
俺的第一辆车是1997 taurus， 2003年买时11万英里，5000刀，开了3年5万英里卖了
2600.换过轴承和轮胎。
第二辆车是Buick的2003 Randevous， 2005年买时5万英里，开到10万卖了，换过轴承
轮胎和电池。
第三辆车是Oldsmobile的2002 Intrigue，买时6万迈，现在10万，换过轮胎。
第四辆是Caddy的2006 SRX，买时8万迈，现在十万，刚换了电池和轮胎。
第五辆车（LD的）是2011的AcuraMDX，刚开了200mile，啥也没换，倒自己加了不少附
件，搞得金光闪闪。
其他的日常维护都是自己作，换油，刹车等。车关键靠保养。保养到位的话出大毛病的
几率很小。美国车跟日本车都一样。德国车除外，那玩意设计出来就是为出毛病准备的

子。
车子问题现象：
2002oldsmobile Intrigue，⒊5L V6，10万迈。每4000mile换一次全合成机油，80000
时换了变速箱油。
车子开着很好，动力很足，怠速平稳，很安静，换档平滑，靠，快成广告了。
问题来了，天气很热的时候，在跑了一段长路，超过1小时，特别是高速大油门或低俗
堵车后，车子停下熄火后，
在5分钟后再打火打不着。状语很多，希望大伙能理解。就是说刚停车马上打能打着，
超过5分钟就打不着了。但
再等2小时等车子稍微冷却下来又可以打着了。俺曾经在一个加油站把3袋冰块放到机舱
里，只用1小时就可以
了，说明是高温引起的。但车子的水温不高，甚至有点低，有时车子checkengine灯亮
，查码是说水温比节温器设
定点低，俺换过节温器，好过一段时间，后来还那样，估计是节温器一直开着，俺就不
管他了，难道和打不着火
有关系？
打火的时候有突突声，新电池很强劲，就是打不着。有时感觉象打着了但一松手又死了
。有时候俺轻踩油门打火

至少420hp起？Base MSRP分别是$52,000 and $75,000起，和当初猜想的倒也差不多。
不过貌似这颗3.6T是全新的引擎啊，估计该用的新技术都用了，应该不错。

毛病，坏过一个汽油泵，喷嘴坏过一个，轮胎换过4副，电池三个，被撞4次，撞人一次
，进水一次。从没被拖过，马力强劲，变速箱平滑，油耗local大概20mpg
目前还在服役中，准备一直开下去，直到楼上说的维修成本大于残值就捐出去。
2008的335，开了4年4万迈，目前8万，被拖三次，出保后自己修花费$5000多。轮胎2年
一套。被追尾一次

research 会疯掉。另外教一教 basic stuff 有时会触类旁通，想出高级的东东，正好
package 成 idea 卖给某个 agency，混点 funding。当然这个灵机一现是可遇不可求
的，通常需要好学生的配合，问些 intriguing 的问题，或是做 project 的时候“乱
做”，给出些让教授惊讶的答案。
Finally,教到烦的确是有，特别是同一门课教到三次以上。不过这不是你能控制的。所
以要用 positive attitude 来对待 teaching。 |

Notice that British people founded both US and Australia and other colonies.
Immigrating is just part of their long history and culture.
That does not mean that UK is a bad country!! They can easily immigrate
