在win2000 advanced server下安装iplanet web server 4.1,
adminserver启动后， 想接着启动自己添加的server， 但是
自己的server起不来， 总有保护错， 是httpd.exe读内存越界。
在别的相同OS机器上， 有的可以，有的不行， 不知道是不是和已经
安装过的其他东西冲突。
有没有人也碰到过这样的问题， 请各位指教， 多谢。 |

I am doing the same kind of research now and want to know
you guy's opinion.
Web Server: iplanet (NES), or Apache
actually i am only familiar (or say quite familiar :-))
with iplanet. there are several articles on line, compare
those 2 web server (plus IIS). seems iplanet gets the best
overall score among the three on UNIX platform. I am not
surprised on that since anyway, Apache is free.
App. Server: the targets i am looking at including WebLogic,
Websphere, iplanet and Inprise app. server |

已经配置成功,能在Weblogic server console里看到
iPlanet中的用户和组了
但我怎么在程序里取的这些信息呢?
在6.0时,还可用到weblogic.security.acl.realm包
但我用的是8.1platform,已经废弃了
那怎么办呢? |

I set up an apache server 1.3.9 and bind the port 8080. But
recently I downloaded a counter which automatically tries
to bind to port number 3000, and unable to bind to it. Don't know
what I should do. Should I change the apache server to 3000?
I tried it but it refused to accept the change (the httpd won't
start if I change the port number). Or is there anyway I can
free up my port number 3000? I remember when I tried an iplanet
web server before, I assigned a port number to be 30 |

I see. They tried. But don't you think they react very slowly to the app server
market. If my memory is correct, long after BEA has its product, SUN begin to
promote its iPlanet.
Oracle sucks. Some years ago, they implemented their app server using store
procedure. kinda of ridiculous. Never tried oracle app sever after that. |

直接从JAVA赚钱so far看起来没希望，感觉JAVA只能走linux的模式，即JAVA本身
不赚钱，但靠基于JAVA的application赚钱，比如IBM等现在大笔投钱linux, 就是指望
靠linux带动他的比如database, message, 等等所谓enterprise software, 否则
如果微软的OS一通天下，大家都没得玩。不过我觉得SUN做软件很烂，能弄出JAVA
实在是异数。比如按理JAVA是SUN自个的玩意，可SUN基于JAVA的开发很烂，
就拿servlet/jps container, SUN买了netscape的server, 改名iplanet,
他的servlet/jsp container基本是照抄tomcat, 可弄出来的破玩意很烂。 |

我同意SUN不会从自己的软件产品里挣很多钱。但既然他还能在坚守软件这一块，就是因
为它还是有一些比较强的产品。
iplanet(过去的netscape web server)不像你说的那么差，完全不是照抄tomcat。它是第
一个真正意义上的基于LDAP的web server。曾经是最好的, 但后来随标准变化更新不
够及时。
此外sunone portal server一直就是最好的portal
server，最新的版本是第一个支持jsr168的portal 产品。
如果你在用sun的这些产品，你会发现他的设计相比IBM，ORACLE的同类产品合理很多。比
如portal的配置是在单独的基于ldap的directory server中完成的，而directory
server是像windows里mmc一样的管理中心同样可以管理其它大部分的sun 产品。这些东西
完全不像IBM的产品，后者感觉像是互相不认识的人做出的没关系东西，印上了IBM的logo
。
这些产品不一定要直接为sun带来很大的效益，比如 portal server在2002年之前的版本
根本不支持solaris之外的操 |
