0.0 若假期允许，尽量不要在圣诞、新年期间去夏威夷，这是最贵的时候，机票、酒店
、租车都贵得要命，避过这个高峰期，所有价钱都能降下来。就住宿、租车而言，大岛
比瓦胡岛(Waikiki, Oahu)便宜不少。
还有一个原因是，圣诞节、新年、或周日，很多景点是不开放的。
0.1 在做旅游计划前，买一本蓝宝书 - 又实用又好用，几乎涵盖了所有需要的信息。
旅游的时候每天带在包里或车上，随时查阅。

lands on Wizard Island, allowing passengers to debark and hike the trial to
the summit. The Phantom Ship, the lake's other island, is off-limits to
visitors, but the tour boats offer a close-up inspection on the way back to
the dock.
Tidbit: Wizard Island was named by William Steel in the 1880s because its
shape reminded him of a magician's hat.

星期五的时候，我查了一下信息，找到了这个网站：http://www.saturnatourism.
com/ 后来发现，大家几乎都看这个网站，船上的小册子，用的也都是这个网站上的
信息。
Saturna Island是Gulf Islands里面的一个http://www.gulfislands.net/images/
gi_mapnew2.gif。
面积大约96平方公里，地形丰富，有森林，湿地， 沼泽，悬崖，暗礁，岩洞和沙滩
； 号称有180多种鸟类， 很多的鹿， 很多海豹海狮。这里常住人口只有300人左右
， 所以，整个岛上且没有过度开发的问题。除了港口附近的路，大部分都是石子路
。 岛上有一个酒厂，两个吃饭的地方，两个小店，11家B&B啊，resort亚什么的，
还有一个internet café! 仔岛上能干什么呢？可以坐船出海去看动物，可以划ka

Canyonlands NP本身是一块完整的空间，但被贯穿公园的Colorado River及其支流
Green River从中心的位置割裂成了三个相对独立的部分，最北边的那个就是Island in
the sky。这里算故地重游了，上一次来差不多是七年前，也是在冬季。那是我第一次
来美国西部，荒原上的壮美给我留下了极深的印象，以致很多年之后Canyonlands都还
是我最喜欢的国家公园之一。这次再来，却觉得不过尔尔，看来也不是所有的美好都禁
得起推敲。从Moab出发，沿着191走没多久左边就是去公园的岔路。刚拐进去的时候是
穿行在大片大片红色的断崖里，有些地方两侧的崖壁上有很规整的褶皱，一片片的好像
屏风。这个应该是开山凿路留下的痕迹吧，如果是天然的也太神奇了。之后路随地势慢

on the island or in Sorrento?
I was on the island for a few hours. enough to hike to one of the top but
the top was a private house.
Some luxury stores on the island as well I think.
limon cello is a kind of lemon flavored liquor you can buy from that region.
other than that, I am not sure what's special. but most restaurants serve
great food. I wish I could visit again just for the food. |

漂亮，所以想去那个岛呆一个礼拜。不过我也想看Big Island上的火山（我还从来没见
过火山），但是好像Big Island除了火山别的也没啥吸引我的了，我觉得特地从Kauai
飞到Big Island去看一眼火山好像有点太折腾，不知道值不值啊。但是如果我错过了
Big Island的火山，以后会不会很后悔呢？
还有再问个问题：在Kauai上一定要租车吗？是不是没有什么其他的交通方式？ |

选在11月中旬,旅游淡季.在大岛呆了五个白天，进出都是在西边的Kona机场，Waikoloa
呆了两晚，Hilo两晚，Kailua-Kona一晚。时间如果紧的话行程还可压缩，见最后的三
日精华游安排。当然既然是度假，一般没必要那么赶，即使在酒店呆上一整天游泳晒太
阳也挺好。

新房，我们想在island上做个书架，随口跟我妈提了一下，没想到老妈坚决反对，实在
是不明白，island上的书架真的不实用吗？
我妈说那里以后一定脏乱差，我说，那要清理啊。
我说放书，放点娃的玩具，我妈说从餐厅望过去不像样子，娃马上长大了。
我说我没地方放书，她说客厅那么大怎么可能没地方。
我说客厅也不能乱扔，那我们又没有书架在客厅。
最后我妈说我不管了，你随便吧，我说好，然后我妈就气呼呼的。话说我妈在国内，
skype的时候聊到的。我实在不能理解阿。

barnabas hospital at NJ。
说来有趣，这两家医院我都不是第一次去了，2007，08两年我以其他兼差的机会来过这
两家医院参观，当时不仅转了几个临床科室(病理倒只是看了CP的化验室)，还听到了医
院的管理者对医院的介绍，当时就留下了很好的印象。特别是North shore-Long
island jewish hospital，这次面试已经是我第四次去了，感觉还蛮亲切的。
North shore-Long island jewish医疗集团一共包括十多家医院，服务的范围以纽约的
长岛，皇后区和staten island为主。其中以北岸大学医院和长岛犹太医院规模最大。
刚刚问了实验室一个phd学生对于这两个医院的评价，因为他们家从他的爷爷辈儿就生
活在纽约，现在父母家住在长岛，他先反问我，是personal opinion吗？我说是，他就
说他的评价非常高，这是一家值得让人信赖的医院，然后例举了家里老老少少就医的经
历为证。我对于这两家位于长 |

以认鸟为主，很少让你有充裕的时间观察、拍摄，而我决非那种偏执于算计自己的“鸟
单”（life list）的人，所以从未参与。
但是这次正值春季迁徙大潮经过墨西哥湾，四月二十八日又是Houston Audubon
Society的本季度最后一次guided walk，我对High Island也久闻其名，何不前去拜访？
我二十七日到达休斯敦，整天雷阵雨不断，很多地方还发大水，我不由得暗暗担心。第
二天我五点不到就起来了（从我歇脚的地方到High Island还有一百二十英里路程），
开了两个钟头，终于在天刚破晓的时候到达传说中的High Island。刚停好车，就看到
停车场里有一只Inca Dove。这是一种来源于墨西哥的鸽子，现在已经在德克萨斯安下
了家，并非候鸟，在当地也极常见，但对于我来说是新鸟！然后去买guided tour的票
，抬头一看，树上有一只Summer Tanager！于是还没买票，已有二鸟入帐！

A majority of Rhode Island voters support marriage rights for same-sex
couples, according to a new poll.
The study, released on Wednesday by Rhode Island Marriage Coalition, found
that of 502 voters polled, 59% said they supported giving same-sex couples
the right to marry — a 10% increase in support for marriage equality in the
state compared to a 2008 poll on the issue.

从地下走的。中国人做饭油烟重，想着要么装个island hood或者干脆把炉子移到靠墙
的边上。据说ISLAND HOOD不贵，两千刀左右够了。但如果把炉子移到靠墙的边上，有
人知道大概要花多少钱吗？这个跟重新装修厨房是不是差不太多了？
就想知道价钱是否值得下OFFER.急等。 |

发帖数: 3011 | 45 island的range hood一般烟道会比靠墙的长很多，靠墙的往往可以直接穿外墙到外面。
而且如果island烟道是走dry wall中间从二楼出去，管径也会大大受限。这些都会大大
增加流动损失，同样的油烟机同样的风机，island的风量这样会比较小。
顺道说一句，油烟机的给的风量只是个参考，实际风量由烟道决定。
直径尽量大，长度尽量短，拐弯尽量少(一个90度elbow相当于增加了管径20倍的长度） |

发帖数: 9999 | 46 island的设计不过时，把炉子放在island上的设计绝对是过时的，好多90年代的房子都
是这样，不知道这么设计的人是不是脑袋被门框夹了，又不是搞cooking show，在
island上做饭还不得溅的到处都是，去美国人的论坛转转，发现老美也讨厌这种设计。
最近看到的好多价格位置还可以但一直卖不出去的房子不少都是这种设计。 |

上周日看到一个中意的townhouse,准备下offer了。还是有俩个初级问题。
1。我们没有buyer agent,问showing agent, 如果他做我们buyer agent,有没有rebate
,答曰没有，还说Long Island 就这样。
2。问seller是不是share一部分closing fee,(坛子上都说owner title insurance是
seller出),答曰，seller不出closing fee,都是buyer出。
我觉得他欺负我们初来乍到，不懂行情，有没有在Long Island买卖房子的兄弟姐妹指
点一二哦。 |
