One night, this guy come into a bar and asks the bartender for a
drink. Then he asks for another. After a couple more drinks, the
bartender gets worried.
"What's the matter?" the bartender asks.
"My wife and I got into a fight," explained the guy " and now she
isn't talking to me for a whole 31 days."
The bartender thought about this for a while. "But, isn't it a
good thing that she isn't talking to you?" asked the bartender.
"Yeah, except today is the last night."

The railroad track is miles away,
And the day is loud with voices speaking,
Yet there isn't a train goes by all day
But I hear its whistle shrieking.
All night there isn't a train goes by,
Though the night is still for sleep and dreaming,
But I see its cinders red on the sky,
And hear its engine steaming.
My heart is warm with friends I make,

The Academy of American Poets于1996年
poets.org上有更多信息。

You underestimate what MySQL can do today. Combining that with some NoSQL

Oracle a better fit for certain industries. For most applications, they don

来自主题: Programming版 - Node.js arrives for the JVM
http://www.javaworld.com/article/2104441/enterprise-application
"JavaScript everywhere, and everything ported to JavaScript" -- it's either
a running joke in IT these days or a stone-cold truth. Evidence is tending
toward the latter, what with Node.js becoming a jack-of-all-trades framework
for many workloads and environments.
With Nodyn, Node.js gains yet another place it can run: the Java Virtual
Machine.
Nodyn, a project sponsored by Red Hat via its Project:Odd team, works by
leveraging two o...

Whether you’re formatting an internal drive, external drive, USB flash
drive, or SD card, Windows will give you the choice of NTFS, FAT32, and
exFAT. The Format dialog in Windows doesn’t explain the difference, so we
will.
FAT32 is an older file system that’s largely relegated to USB flash drives
and other external drives. Windows uses NTFS for its system drive, and it’s
also ideal for other internal drives. exFAT is a modern replacement for
FAT32, and more devices support it than do NTFS — alth...

railway track isn't tenure track either but it's a track, and a hamster
wheel isn't gonna go anywhere but it's still a wheel, buddy.
slave is a life-time career, isn't it? so there should be a track for it.
and honestly, my friend, don't you think a 20-year postdoc deserves a title
that's more sounding than "just A postdoc"?

Ten Things Everyone Should Know About Time
by Sean
“Time” is the most used noun in the English language, yet it remains a
mystery. We’ve just completed an amazingly intense and rewarding
multidisciplinary conference on the nature of time, and my brain is swimming
with ideas and new questions. Rather than trying a summary (the talks will
be online soon), here’s my stab at ...

Leaving Science
February 8, 2014
Why I’m leaving
I have decided, after 40 years as a lab scientist and 24 years running my
own lab, to shut it down and leave. I write this to explain why, for those
of my friends and colleagues who’d like to know. The short answer is that I
’m tired of being a professor. Indeed, I know that I can’t continue
indefinitely, and I would much rather have people ask why I am leaving so
soon, than why I haven’t already gone[1]. The long answer follows. It’s
not 100% tru...
