in where i live, when speed limit is 40~60, pushing another 10 is definitely
safe. those over 60 area, lots of people push another 15.
another state, right next to us, highway patrol has much stricter rules. i
never been ticketed, never drive more than 3 miles faster than the speed
limit in that state. but everyone tells me do not over speed in there.
btw, driving in CA is pretty f**ked up, crazy drivers.
I doubt lots of Mehikans drive without DL in CA. |

本人在一health care领域的phd program已经2.5年，2014fall即将开始第三年的第二
学期。其实我对目前导师（白人）的研究方向一点兴趣都没有，中途试过转学去其他学
校跟其他老师做我痴迷的方向(对那个方向已经很obsessed了，可以这样说)，被录取但
是不能提供ta 或ra，而且目前学校的给我学费全免＋competitive monthly stipend。
这2.5年来我一直很郁闷，因为我和一个压根不喜欢的研究方向在一起，同时我也背着
导师去参加我喜欢那个方向的会议、培训等，还背地里看大量的文献、书籍，广接人缘
，目前自己在暗地里working on a manuscript in that field to submit to a
journal (综述性质)，同时也很消极和被动地完成目前老板交给的任务，他也看出来我
不是highly motivated。
最近我越发地感觉我不能这样不闻不问自己应该做的事情，而“花心”地背着老师痴迷
于自己喜欢的领域，因为最终我得拿现在老板的推荐信去找目前方向相关的工作。于是

一面，尚且不见得一定是缺点，怎么会还被某些人说得那么不堪。楼主无视他们了，很
对。
另外，国内一二线城市有所谓“歧视”？都说国内大家都认钱，又说上海人排外。恰好
我去年回国了一次，我穿的是没牌子的棉布T棉布裙子，踩的是帆布keds，拎的是帆布
包。不论在上海，还是别的地方，基本没有遇到歧视。如果你用在美国的礼貌标准去面
对国内的人，我敢说只会得到高于国内一般水准的礼貌对待。唯一一次被“歧视”是在
一个三线城市逛一家做衣服的小店，问了做旗袍的价格，被老板娘呛了两句，我没动声
色，礼貌表示没看上她家东西，也就走人了。相信这没有任何代表性，也不足以令我挂
怀。
我个人的经验，在哪儿都可能遇到不对味的上司和同事，在哪儿也都可能遇到相对宜人
的环境。遇到前者简直让人生不如死，根本不是个人能力或者积极进取就能解决的，耽
误做事也摧残身心。所以我现在的想法是，如果有个环境大家都能尊重自己肯定自己的
能力相处和气，我就觉得是很幸运的事了，这的确不是很容易的际遇，值得珍惜。所以
