wrong both theoretically (not satisfying conditions of rational expectation)
and empirically (look at France) in the last three decades. Politicians
like Keynesian economics because it is a convenient excuse for their

我自己的理解是: Okun's Law 是反映失业率和产出的关系的,失业率反映了劳动要素,
符合标准经典模型.但是我隐约记得在经典模型下,失业率就是自然失业率,所以此法则
不适用.
到底哪个对呢?

一切的局面。类比一下,keynesian就像是喝酒,喝了之后兴奋啊,高兴啊,爽!然后
酒醒的时候难受,于是喝更多的酒。开始的时候酒醒的时候不会太难受,到后来就头痛
什么的都来了。也可以用毒品来类比。真正金本位被废除应该是1971年吧,所以从历史
上看,恢复金本位也未必是坏事吧。想想现代社会的发明,除了电子啊,计算机方面,
很多都是在70年代以前搞的吧,比如说飞机,汽车,也不是比以前高明太多。所以恢复
金本位绝对不是世界末日。不过颠覆了现在的体系,很多既得利益者肯定不同意罢了,
所以目前还看不到可能性。
真要恢复金本位的话,以下事情会发生。
1.股市不再具有现在这么强的投机性。因为货币不会无限贬值,很多人会把钱放到银行
而不是股市。因为股市是ponzi scheme,所以肯定暴跌。
2.老老实实工作的人将会获益,因为他们积累的存款到老了以后还是钱。(题外话,我
手里有sf chronicle 在1940年的报纸,上面租房信息都是$40左右。想象一个90岁的老
人那时候存钱到现在,老无钱养的感觉。 |

Keynesian Macro的一个结论就是货币政策短期是有效的。所以Taylor原来自己的理论
是认为货币政策是短期有效的,但是由于dynamic inconsistency的问题,而提出rule-
based policy, taylor rule。
在过去20年内,monetary policy的研究进展了很多,Taylor rule是个good start,是
解决dynamic inconsistency的一个办法,但并不代表monetary policy就应该遵循
Taylor rule。他当然可以批评,但是解决dynamic inconsistency的rule有很多种,哪
种最好还是debatable,何况这次危机是residential investment-deleverage driven
,最大的风险在deflation,所以联储不需要那么担心inflation yet。

the corporations want low taxes. When economy turns bad, the corporations
want public bailout. Where strict Keynesian economics would have required
corporation to pay more taxes, and government to run surpluses in good
economy to compensate and prepare for the deficit spending in bad economy. |
