看来看去作者在息事宁人而已，
大家都没错，
错的是科研体制没让reviewers/editors强求
Rabe/Kindler1918年和Woodward/Doering1944年
发表文章的时候提供实验细节和支持数据。
不过，作者的潜台词是：
Woodward涉嫌夸大自己的成果。
有事实：确实所谓的“全合成喹咛”只是合成到倒数第二步而已，
最后一步建立在1918年Rabe/Kindler的实验结果上，
他们没有重复（或者重复失败？）Rabe/Kindler的结果。
有动机：1942-3年的时候Woodward在哈佛去留未定，
正在寻找tenure-track position，被Pauling刚拒掉。

发帖数: 884 | 8 R&D 虽然是一条艰苦的道路，但是作为药厂还是必须要做，裁掉 R&D 的药厂是没有前
途的。
Kindler 想尝试一条新路，但是失败了。也许他只是一个惨淡经济下的牺牲品，或者是
政治斗争的替罪羊。不管怎样，他输了。
希望各大药厂可以多少重新重视一下 R&D, 这样我等scientist才有出路。 |

pharmaceutical operations, Karen Katen, who failed in a contest last month
to become chief executive of the world's largest drugmaker, would leave in
the coming months.
Katen had been among three internal candidates to replace former CEO Hank
McKinnell. But she and another vice chairman, David Shedlarz, were passed
over for the post when the board chose Jeff Kindler, a third vice chairman
and general counsel. |
