科学观察（Science Watch）网站近日回顾了2009年的最热门研究，评出了09年最热门
论文（被引次数最多）排行。表一是近2年来最丰产的热门论文作者排行，表二是 2009
年发表的最热门论文排行。
在作者排行中，排在首位的为麻省理工学院怀特黑德生物医学研究所的Rudolf
Jaenisch教授，自2008年以来他共发表了14篇热门论文，他主要从事表观遗传学方面的
研究，在胚胎干细胞和iPS细胞研究领域取得多项进展。华人科学家东华大学何吉欢教
授以10篇热门论文排在前10位，他提出了变分迭代算法以及一些新的非线性分析方法等。
另外上榜的还有英国曼彻斯特大学Andre K. Geim和他的同事Konstantin Novoselovud
关于石墨烯的研究；麻省总医院Mark J. Daly在全基因组关联方面的研究；Broad研究

BBC: Nasa Mars mission declared dead
Nasa says its Phoenix lander on the surface of Mars has gone silent and is
almost certainly dead.
Engineers have not heard from the craft since Sunday 2 November when it made
a brief communication with Earth.
Phoenix, which landed on the planet's northern plains in May, had been
struggling in the increasing cold and dark of an advancing winter.
The US space agency says it will continue to try to contact the craft but
does not expect to hear from it.

1. The experiment they used to show securing binding of P53 affects ability of
P53 to bind DNA, I think it is a long shot to have that conclusion, there are
plenty of other alternative explanations. However, their in vivo experiments
are very convincing.
2. Can anyone tell me how many AA can phage display vectors successfully
express?

对饶毅之流进行美化的人，给饶毅了个光环。
饶毅，个人以为，更是一副政客嘴脸，全不是有些人说的那么有品位。
国内最大的问题，就是像饶毅之流都能博得这么好的出位，中国的悲哀啊。
施一公说到钱学森的问题
现在的问题是，如果钱学森生活在当下，没有不能工作的问题，他会否回国呢？如果不
愿意，是什么原因呢？
现在的中国，物质条件肯定比刚建国的时候好多了。
但是，刚建国的时候，像钱学森，李四光这样的都纷纷回国了,而现在呢？
回国后的人才是否得到了重视和重用呢？
所以，不是有没有人才的问题，而是用不用人才的问题，土壤的问题。
只有一个钱学森，中国还是不行的。
钱学森，无疑是个科学帅才。但是，在成为科学帅才之前，他必须是科学人才，本专业
的出类拔萃之人。所以，从这个角度讲，要想成为科学帅才，指点江山，就必须在自己
的专业里成为数得着的人物才能够达到这样的高度。这个不论是中国，还是在美国都是
一样的。比如，丁肇中，Eric Lander。
所以，像施一公，王晓东，庄小威这样的人（其他领域的，不是特别清楚），才有可能
成为科学帅才，指点江山。

而新PI似乎还是在各自的生科院呆着，但是享受新的特区政策，在饶毅的博文里也有。
北大今年的package确实有很大提高，清华的好像并不明显。如果这就是新的北清中心
的一切的话。由于没有实体的存在，同行评议也没法着手啊。
如果是像Broad那样的实体，要想同时罩住北清，确实就需要一个像Lander那样可以"通
天"的人物，我能想到的是江大公子。
题外话，当年陈章良把北大教授们待遇提高那么多，有辱斯文的说，很多人端着碗吃肉
，放下碗就骂娘。Rao如果真是费尽心机给北大的新PI们要到一个特区政策，功德无量。 |

似乎ENCODE主要分3大块
一块是tf的binding
一块是组蛋白甲基化修饰的分布
一块是测出来一大批新的none coding RNA
然后再把这三块比来比去看有没有相关性。
不知我有没有抓住关键的点。
我觉得none coding RNA肯定是有用的
在各个肿瘤或者其他疾病里比来比去肯定能找到东西。
组蛋白修饰就不好说了，他们是用chip-seq做的
组蛋白甲基化修饰的抗体特异性很难说
而且随环境和技术影响变化很大，可重复性不好。
当年eric lander不是提出个es全基因组的bivalent domain概念么？
我们也重复过chipseq，不能说我们重复不出来，至少可以说数据差异很大。
组蛋白修饰本来就是会变的，再加上种种实验上的变量，最后能有多大参考价值很难说。 |

He is for sure a winner, more from management perspective, and less from
scientific perspective. (his research is OK, but he is better at negotiation
and managing the team)
nature给他新闻人物的定位没什么不好，同时华人，我们应该骄傲才是。做科学，每个
人的定位都可以不一样，行行出状元。Southern也不能算是serious scientist吧，一

I once heard from one of the mater minds behind the human genome project,
who I have a lot of respect for (not Lander, he's more of a showman than
scientist to me), that we tend to be over optimistic on short term goals but
over pessimistic on the long term ones. So I do have a lot of hopes for
BAM -- not in the grandiose goal itself, but I think it will drive a lot of
