downpayment过几天交。dealer说一周之内要收到银行支票，然后才能提车。说如果用
他们的银行，今天就能提车，但也说，我的利息很低，他们不能match.态度一直还好。
肯定要走自己的贷款银行，但银行（一个信用社而已）在外州。银行需要三个文件（购
买协议，车保险和encumbrance)才能寄给dealer支票. 银行说，如果车在外州注册上牌
，必须由dealer出具encumbrance letter 表明xx银行作为lien holder using address
xxxx.
银行之前给我的信是conditional approval letter, 应该就是理论上这些文件都收到
满足了，才能够真正的批准。
难到在本地银行贷款的不需要这个encumbrance letter吗？我本以为都需要的，没有什
么不同的。这样的外州银行贷款有没有别的可能问题，比如税或其他可能的潜在问题？
有点小担心。
dealer说一周之内必须收到银行支票，为什么必须一周呢？有这样的规定吗？问他也不

该能收到正式的offer letter，不过他也说Offer letter还需要校长签字然后才寄出来
，现在刚刚两周时间，还没有收到letter，是否应该催催系主任或者Dean呢？还是该再
等段时间再催问呢？
In case，如果校长没有批准这个offer或者他们withdraw了我的offer，他们Dean或者
系主任是不是会通知我一声啊？不会那边offer cancel了然后说也不说一声让我干等着

teaching load, start-up, 和 对我的funding expectations 都讲清楚了.一番讨价还
价之后，我也签了。
但系主任称正式的offer必须由Provost开，苦等之后，今天终于收到了Provost的信。
一看只有寥寥几段话，基本上除了工资，什么都没有。
这样的经历是不是正常？之前签的informal letter 还有效吗？ 该不该让他们把具体
的package 写到formal letter, 以保护自己呢？

index, 主要的目的是把经历中的亮点都浓缩体现出来，让人家有兴趣去看你的cv.说太
长了会让人失去兴趣。他说一定要控制在一页。
但是我最近参考了好几个师兄师姐的cover letter都巨长阿，两页办，单行行距这种的
，而且非常详尽。这几位的确都找倒比较好的faculty positions了
现在有点不确定，请问各位的cover letter都遵循什么原则写的阿？

看着很boring。我不太清楚这个cover letter会起什么具体作用吗？是否需要包含一些
重要的message呢？要不要提到自己的发表文章的情况呢？还是Faculty Search
Committee会自己看我随后附上的CV呢？要不要提到我的推荐人呢？如果Faculty
Search Committee的chair可能认识我的推荐人，要不要在cover letter里面特意提到
呢？

寄来了Dean签名的offer letter。过了几天，我又跟系主任提条件. 系主任就去找
院长，然后他们修改了offer letter，给寄过来。
我在negotiate之前问我们的系主任的意见，他说让雇主改offer letter很正常，而且
雇主总是期待你去跟他们negotiate. 当然，如果你签字接受了，想要再改，人家就基本
不会理你了。 |

明明是申请的Assistant，可是Letter里给的位子是Associate，估计这个Fast Track
也是Copy那个给别人Associate教授的。我要去和他澄清一下。
我是医学院的。给我发的是12个月的。我这个是州立大学，系头说工资都是系上发，但
是希望能申请到Funding来给自己发一些工资，但从Offer Letter上看，这个不是必须
的。好的，我去问清楚他是什么意思。

排名都是较高的），只要cover letter，CV，和推荐人联系。完全没要research和
teaching。在这种情况下，我就把cover letter搞长一些，将research statement放入
，但没有放teaching philosophy，而是总结了一下我可以教的课。
对于多数要R和T的，我的cover letter是一页半，还是简单叙述了一下1）研究方向，
以及可以和谁合作，2）列出能教哪些课，虽然这些在R和T中还有详细阐述。 |

letter 标题 是“ full－time faculty contract”
然后“it is agreed that the univ appoints xx as a full－time faculty for
the academic year 2016-2017， annual salary xx 然后就是faculty rank:
assistant professor, benefit information 等等
为什么没明确提tenure track而是full time faculty啊？
唯一一处提到tenure 是在最后的comments "eligible for promotion and tenure
review in 2012-22"
这是一个tenure track 的职位，contract letter这样正常么？但是要一年一年renew
的意思？通篇也没提要renew

比文章都要长。看了letter一段就看不下去了，今天特别忙，等到有时间再看。

大家好，这里想咨询下大家的经验和意见
情况：我的初始合同去年结束，但是合同写了可以延。我的f1 opt今年十月底结束。老
板愿意支持h1b。ＨＲ说我的职位是research scientist，所以自动进payroll，他们Ｈ
Ｒ那边是不需要我每年主动renew合同的，暂时也不清楚怎么弄新offer letter。OISS
管h1b的人觉得一般要一个新合同，开始日期是h1b的开始日期。
问题：是否需要全新的offer letter？系里面和学校开具的employment verification
之类的证明有没有用？
我也在个方面打听这个消息，有答案后会回来反馈 :) |
