我们祈求的可能会实现，但是我们怎能知道它是不是本来就会实现的？即使事情本身是不
容置疑的神迹，也无法证明因着祷告才出现神迹。
有些事得以证明是因为我们经验的万无一失；譬如地心引力定律的成立，就是因为事实上
根据我们的经验，万物都遵守此律，万无例外。而现在即使人们所祷告的均得应验，也仍
然无法证明基督徒所谓的“祷告的功效”。因为祷告是一种请求；无疑的，新约中有几处
经文在乍看之下，似乎应许我们祷告就有求必应。不过这并不是经文真正的意思。因为在
新约本身的核心故事，在客西马尼园，那最圣洁的手，三次祈求倘若可行，叫那杯离开他
，结果并未如此。
不单是藉着经验，有些事也可以透过实验得到证明。祷告也能用实验得到证明吗？答案当
然是否定的，经上说：不可试探主你的神。因此我们也无法得到实验的数据，能证明祷告
的有效或无效。
我们祷告的确据来自与我们所祈求的对象与我们的关系。我们愈认识他是谁，就愈能认识
他的作为。
我们能否相信，神真的会因着人 |

其实是和Narnia, 算是一类,都是用神话的形式来讲诉救赎. Narnia可以说更直接,因为
Lewis就是向小孩子能懂的童话故事来传讲耶稣. 而托金斯的小说则更隐讳. 至于
Harry Potter, 你就别指望什么了.

我在前章说过，基督教要求的诸般德行中，以贞洁最不受人欢迎。不过，我说的是
不是对，自己也无把握。我相信还有一德比贞洁更少人喜欢，这一德便是"要爱邻舍如
同自己"。
在基督教的道德观中，"邻舍"包括"敌人"，正因为如此，我们有宽恕敌人的义务。
这是一件很难做到的事，所以我们不愿意。
人人都说宽恕是美事，但真正要去宽恕敌人的时候(比方说，二次大战的时候)，那
就不同了。只要稍稍提一提，就会有人对你大呼大喝。人们并不认为宽恕是一种很超然
、很难实行的德行，而是认为以此态度对敌人，其行不可忍受，也为人所不齿。他们会
说，"说这种话叫人恶心"，你们大多会质问我，"你如果是波兰人或者犹太人，有人要
你宽恕纳粹的特工人员，你会怎么个想法？"

分析的有理。作为基督徒，我很敬重传道人，但是专职传道未必是最有优先级的－－至
少不是对所有的信徒。神对每个人对使命召唤不一样，不见得这个就优于那个。
说起文字和言论，不由想到C.S. Lewis,。他31岁以前是无神论者，31岁成为有神论者
（theist），两年后成为基督徒。他的几乎所有的作品，包括"纳尼亚传奇"系列，都是
在成为基督徒以后写的。
Lewis 的经典之作 Mere Christianity，我不久前才读完。这书应该会吸引那些喜欢理
性思考的人。比如，他说到如何理解神在时间空间之外的比喻，就对我帮助很大。

貝和他所在的世界紅十字會都在相關的資料中反復說南京的戰前人口。資料相差不大，
從２０萬到３０萬甚至４０萬。但無論哪一種估測，都沒有我們今天的南京大屠殺的資
深研究者的說法更令人瞠目結舌。他們信誓旦旦的保證南京在戰前大約有６０萬到７０
萬人口。戰前離開南京的中國人只有四十萬左右。這是什麽樣的一個地理概念呢？我想
，只要不是白癡，都可以拿出這樣的拼圖：安全區的範圍占南京城的１／３左右。如果
按正常人口分佈。５５萬中國人（遇難者３０萬＋存者２５萬）中除去３萬左右的中國
士兵，加上安全區委員會的統計大約有２０萬中國人在安全區內。那麽我們可以得出大
