发帖数: 2535 | 1 今年六月开会碰到一个stubbe组的中国人，说是她career里面可能共招过80多个
postdoc，有大概一
半是三个月不到就或fire或自己走了。
现老板也听说过stubbe以前的故事，说是一次她陪另外一个教授参观自己实验室，结果
发现一个
postdoc没有好好干活，马上就对该postdoc说你被fire了，马上清东西走人。这个教授
十分惊讶，
说从来没有见过这样的事情。总之push过头，据说现在老了身体差了在这方面要好一点
了。
另外感觉她做RNR太久太细，基本变化不大。说不定哪天像当年cotton一样也会funding
出问题。另外
她组里出来的postdoc找到好faculty其实不算多，和lippard组比起来差很远。一个原
因可能是
lippard组里创新比较多，从以前的无机合成到MMO，metal sensor，platinum drug到
现在的
mice model，每个都做得很好。

读硕士博士期间，选的老板好并不意味着以后的发展就好；
老板mean 也并不意味着以后前途暗淡……
选导师无疑对自己前途起着决定性的作用，慎重就好。
休息之余，随便举两个mean的例子：
1.Bruce H. Mahan
Bruce H. Mahan. Berkeley 化学系60年代末期的系主任。提起Bruce, 很多美国人都知
道他，只是不知道有多少华人知道他？但是提起1986年诺贝尔化学奖得主李远哲，大家
可能都知道；Bruce 是李远哲的博士导师。
Bruce 很少会表扬学生，有时候态度还会很粗鲁，这样的态度最终导致学生与他总是保
持着一定的距离。而他认为学生读博士的时候应该发挥自己的主动性，寻找自己的兴趣
并不断的自我激励来提高自己，因此，平时他并不给予学生非常具体明确的指点。但这
并不意味着他放松对学生的指导。他几乎每天都会到实验室转一圈，问学生几个问题。
而问题总是这样开始和结束的：“Hi, what’s new?”“How about your science?”

大学有过访问学者或博士后资历。但真正的海归应该只有2位，其中一位新加坡大学毕
业，算上香港中文大学毕业的一个博士，也就3个而已。
曹睿，教授，男，1981年3月出生，湖南省益阳市人。2003年从北京大学化学与分子工
程学院获得学士学位，2008年从美国埃默里大学 (Emory University) 化学系获得博士
学位。分别于 2008－2009年在埃默里大学化学系，2009－2011年在麻省理工学院 (
Massachusetts Institute of Technology) 化学系 Stephen J. Lippard 课题组进行
博士后研究工作。2011年加入中国人民大学化学系，担任教授，博士生导师。2011年入
选中组部第一批青年千人计划。
看小伙子真是年轻有为阿。不过美国化学系博士毕业真是快阿，我有个哥们3年半就毕
业了。和社会人文科学真是不能比阿。 |

She is cool. She answered all of my email in great details when I asked
questions about her work a couple of years ago...
I was told that she once had a fight with Lippard but was not confirmed...
I like her talk, very impressive. the techniques she developed will be cool
to be used in single molecule...
And she is pretty, but not as pretty as from the picture... |
