（3）Emergency Road Service
这个需要吗？我每年都会购买AAA中级会员，是不是有AAA的会员就不要这个了？

当然，90%以上的小shop都做得不错，这也是他们存在的价值，但是怕就怕碰上剩下那
不到10%。一旦碰上，一次就足以ruin你的车。去dealer service的意义就是多花点钱
杜绝这一risk。
另外，标准不同。dealer service有很多项目都是inspect+lubricate，我知道你可能
会说这些都是没用的。但事实就是，如果按规定定期做这些，车开10年之后还像新的；
不按规定做的，开10年后就跟要散架一样。 |

考下。
这个对新手来说不是一个太容易的project。前面有人说过了，取决于你有没有工具，
有没有认真的研究网上的DIY视频和write-up，取决于你有没有备用的车（这个很关键
，因为第一次做很容易缺东西），有没有朋友指导，取决于你的车况（老车的螺丝经常
锈死）。
有条件的搞一个floor jack。2 ton就好。一定要有jack stand。你得把车升起来让车
轮离地（废话！）。
如果没有朋友借工具的话，最好买一个工具套装，或者研究下brake的螺丝是什么尺寸
，买对应的wrench。强烈推荐买一套工具。你永远不知道你缺什么工具。
卸轮胎的话，有些锈死的wheel nuts你要用breaker bar才容易松开。我就用了车上自
带的工具。
caliper的螺丝如果没有锈死的话比较好卸，要用对的工具，wrench不要用open-end的
那头。因为工作空间小，不好用力。用box-end能用上力。注意不要把nuts的头拧圆了
。买一个橡皮锤子，如果力矩不够大，你可以锤子敲wrench的柄。... 阅读全帖 |

，而且可以在厂家的4年保修到期前取消，退全款。我当时没多想就要了，反正可以退
钱。
但是今天看GEICO的保险发现有一项Mechanical Breakdown Insurance (MBI），半年$
56，保up to 7y/100K miles, deductible $250. 刚刚给GEICO打电话问了MBI的事情，
被告知这个就相当于extended warranty，只不过有250的deductible而已。
我是不是double insured? 那个$2000的厂家延保没必要了吧？

因为只要稍看看网上修disk brake的视频就知道，pin锁死是多么的常见
原来的rotor 和pad 应该还是好的。车厂rotor disk re-surface 才 $10。
做完的平整度和新的一样。可re-surface多次。
当然楼主想换全新set是另一会事
另外如果pin rubber tube 不用silicone
lube, 用petroleum-based lubricants,以后不但又会锁死，pin
rubber tube还会被腐蚀导致泄漏。 |

以下是参照的视频
re-suface 一般车厂$10,老中车厂可能更便宜， O'Reilly Auto这种很贵的店也才 $15
做完的平整度和新的一样。可re-surface多次。
当然楼主想换全新set是另一回事
要自己拆下来送过去，看见不少人只有一辆车，就在商店的停车厂自己加起车来拆轮子
只要稍看看网上修disk brake的视频就知道，seized pin 很常见
另外pin rubber tube 一定要用silicone lube,
不能用petroleum-based lubricants,如果用了以后还会 seize，
pin rubber tube还会被腐蚀导致泄漏。 |

首先说一下背景知识，我的车是一个老款的lincoln ls，八缸自吸。
我在美国南方生活，气温非常高，终年都在10摄氏度以上，所以我干脆把汽车的防冻液
全部换成了80%蒸馏水 ＋ 20%防冻液。然后加入了一小瓶 water pump lubricator ，
就可以防锈润滑。 我从一本书里学到的这个窍门，一直洋洋自得。
去年的3月，一次上班的路上，我突然听到汽车的发动机盖有滋滋的响声，紧接着，水
温表就亮了。直觉告诉我，漏水了，我赶紧开车到最近的超市，加了一些蒸馏水，趴在
车底下看了一下，没有发现漏水点。但是看到散热片的进水管下端湿漉漉的。经过仔细
观察，分析有可能是进水管与散热片的接口处在漏水。真是日了狗了，这个接口处是用
弹性O型环紧箍的，这个环是弹簧钢做的，有弹性，不可能在这里喷水啊！我又推理了
一下，这里一定不是漏水点，肯定是水管子的某一个地方开缝了，水是从橡胶水管的某
一个缝隙喷出来的。于是，我立即开车到了autozone，花了一百刀订购了一个新的水管
