本科都是台大外文系，留美后又都转攻中文母语。王曾任哥伦比亚大学丁龙讲座教授，
现任哈佛东亚系教授。一直知道他是位中年学者，今日一见却已满头斑白，不由恍惚倥
偬。
他和许多台湾学者一样谦恭有礼，满脸笑容，眸子里却射出精光。他的英语有中国口音
，但字句成熟规范（比如有很多“agenda”），尤其风趣横生，显出活泼的心灵。发音
时下颌常往外努，上下牙咬合用力；越讲到后来越声情并茂、手势翻飞，显出文质彬彬
下的含蓄的激情。
讲座伊始，他说自己搞文学，喜欢讲故事；教书、研究也应以story-telling为主，以
免面目乏味。此言甚得我心，记得国内的许纪霖也说历史课应重在讲故事，并盛赞石景
迁的娓娓故事吸引了无数本来对中国历史毫无兴趣的美国学生。而且这几位喜欢讲故事

不了解了。
2016年诺奖之后，广西师范大学出版社飞快的出了一套《迪伦诗歌集》，分了几个册子
，每个译者负责一个册子，每个册子装在一个薯片的袋子里出售。我起初都没想到这就
是官方的Lyrics中译本，以为是趁诺奖热胡乱兑了一套书赚钱。那时候其中一个译者在
微博贴自己翻译的迪伦歌词，水平烂到匪夷所思，几乎每行都有硬伤，根本连基本意思
都看不懂的。因为这个人颇有名望，我误以为他要翻译Lyrics，于是自荐帮他校对，他
也很高兴。结果才两天就把他骂了，不只是水平烂，做人完全没有操守的。
然后他告诉我那套薯片才是Lyrics的官方中译。而他是嫌弃另外几个译者翻译得太差才
在微博自己重新翻译的。
所以Lyrics的翻译能烂到什么程度。
后来国内的迪伦歌迷帮我拍了照，果真到处都是硬伤惨不忍睹。
他们安慰我说国内就是这样的，是我人渣见得少了。
其实不是人渣见得少，是自己太蠢了，总拿人渣当人看。 |

I had never heard of them until I downloaded their free album and listened
to it - it is quite fun! Their tunes are well-crafted, their humor &

common reaction to music, lyrical or not, is to learn to sing along, even
if we only do this out loud in the privacy of the shower.
Memories that are motoric in nature become habit and can be recalled
subconsciously with little effort. Examples include your memory of how to
walk, drive, or swim.
For this reason, it is fair to say that recalling lyrics can be as easy as

liberals，也有patriots, individualists, leftists等等。还说lyrical不只是小资
、小清新，这一点很痛快。作家的个人抒情不是局限于自我，而是用自己的心和别人的
心连起来，有一种悲天悯人的广泛的同情心。冯至以杜甫为榜样一点没错，冯的早中期
诗歌的好处也是从自己引发出一种同类的广泛的痛切感，不是自怜自恋。可后来在集体
意志下泯灭、扭曲了自我，这才是王德威批评的吧。不知道他书里怎么具体定义这个
lyrical，如果只说个人那也不全面。
他对冯至后期批评得比较厉害，后来有个观众说了一长段冯至，我没听清说的是什么。
我当时心里一直想的是“而如今突然面对坟墓，我冷眼向过去稍稍四顾，只见它曲折灌
溉的悲喜，都消失在一片亘古的荒漠。这才知道我全部的努力不过完成了普通生活。”
我以为这是冯至的临终诗句，觉得他最后对自己有很清醒和痛苦的意识。写帖子的时候
还把这句写了进去，然后才发现这是穆旦的临终诗句……我老是张冠李戴……这俩的诗
我都只读过零星半点，都挺有感觉。

整牙医师都爱放七八十年代欧美老歌，我每次去都听得很开心，因为这是我最熟悉的一
批西方歌曲。它们大部分都在改革开放之初以海关带、盗版带、电台排行榜、欧美流行
榜等形式涌入国内，成为我们这代人的青春记忆标志。
昨天去整牙所时，又听到一首久违的老歌，曲调悠扬，带点忧伤；男声组合嗓音清越；
各个乐句的配器、旋律都在脑中一一复原、流淌。听着听着，忍不住去前台问这是什么
歌？前台两位小姐很帮忙地找到柜子里的播放器，等显示屏上出现歌名就告诉我。结果
歌名未出，歌已放完，转到下一首“Black Hole”了。我说没关系，我回家上网把它找
出来。
我当时觉得这一定是Tears for Fears的那盒十年磨一剑的专辑《Seeds of Love》里的
某支歌；虽然没听清完整歌词，但有好几句重复的“Who do you X? Who do you X?”
，想来应该找得到。

的男高音，所以很多时候由dramatic tenor饰演，因为lyric tenor往往音量不如
dramatic tenor。但是这个不是死的，lyric tenor也可以演这些人物角色。但是像di

The lyrics for Chinese songs are horrible!
Not all the lyrics, but a lion share of them for sure. Do they really know
Chinese is a language with PITCHes?? And pitches count. And they just
disregard. It's not uncommon for me to know the syllable of each of the
lyrics, but fail to get a meaning out of them. They just don't accord the
melody with the pitch of the word!!
