I can definitely walk in a straight line and can definitely count on my
summit push. Seem that I give up too easily? Hehe.

斯瓦西里语(Swahili)里面kilima是山,njaro是我们。岂立马扎罗的意思是“我们的
山”。它有3个peak,Kibo, Mawenzi和Shira, 其中最高点Uhuru在Kibo, 5895米。
Uhuru是自由的意思。
说实话在去年之前从未考虑过攀登高山,一来我懒惰,二来我不知道自己的physical
limit, I hardly hiking. 直到在Canadian Rockies一天走了20多公里还没什么累的感
觉,我才感觉到也许我physical是良好的,心血来潮要爬这个山,至于什么trigger了
我,已经不记得了。看到别人爬山游记里说小时候就听说这个地方,或者要在snow cap
消失前亲眼见证, 或者看了海明威的《乞力马扎罗的雪》神往已久,我很惭愧。我小时
候既没听说过这个山,长大了也不关心快消失的snow cap。《乞力马扎罗的雪》还是这
次在乞力马扎罗山上才看完的。只是,非洲最高,听上去很有成就感。

Machame route is a non-technical route, most is hiking along the trail. And

机票比这个贵一点,但是省下时间了。你这得辗转多少呀。你这样的安排从美国达到
moshi还没爬山呢就得好几天了。内罗毕也不是很安全。moshi倒挺安全的。
爬山小费50每人竟然比看动物还少,50只够一个挑夫的。
safari一天25-30就够了(一辆车),如果看到非常精彩的再多给一些
Marangu路线并不推荐,网上都说这个简单,但这个summit rate并没有其他route高,
因为把高海拔,困难都放在最后头了,前头轻松,风景也是最boring得。Lemosho和
Machame是风景最好的,Machame是most popular route,summit rate很高。 |

5100m. It is sad considered the summit rate is 65% and almost summit rate (
up to 5700m) is 90%.
For the high altitude sickness, I stopped drinking coffee 10 days in advance
and began taking Diamox one day in advance at a reduced dose. On the first
day, we walked up from 1700m to 3100m or so and it was a nice warm up
through rain forest. I did not have any high altitude symptoms on the second

Don't have to feel too bad about it. Sounds like a great trip! Altitude is
different for everybody even very healthy and active people. For me it took
4 days to get used to it.

bed in hotel(9000ft), I feel my heart rate is like 80+. I suppose to have
around 50-55 when laid down. Not sure if it was caused by beer/coffee/

直接上去的。第一天就觉得有点累,不应该的。
药可能也有问题,原来不吃,症状是比较严重,但是一般1个晚上过去就没事了...

experience after I came back but could not find your thread at BAD.
We didn't went all the way to the Lava tower because the weather was
changing. But it was only ~100m higher than the junction. Compared to the
4th, or even the 2nd day, it was flat. At least you don't need to use arms.
My guide told me to give up only when one of these symptoms persists:
headache, dizziness or diarrhea. Fortunately all I had was heartburn |
