On July 7, 1997, the bodies of 25 year-old Mahoney and two others, Emory
Allen Evans (also age 25) and Aaron David Goodrich (age 18) were all found
in the cold storage room by the morning crew at the Starbucks Coffee shop

要想自己能去爬Rainier之类的雪山，如果不想请向导,最好是去上课学习。我认为最好
的是加拿大落基山里的yamnuska.com， 去上它家的Basic Alpine Course, 上了那个课
，基本上可以自己组队去爬入门级雪山了。

东边虽有高手教练，但是没有冰川，所以即使请最好的教练带你冬天穿个冰爪去Marcy
晃晃，对准备爬西边的雪山还是远不够用。
如果要玩攀冰，最好也是先去专门上课学习一下。我在加州，看到爬了3－4个季节的人
的基本动作、基本爬法都有毛病。比如有个男生，顶绳出溜出溜爬得很快，但是你仔细
看他的每个动作都不稳，这样的爬法是他去Quary看人家顶绳速度攀瞎学的。这样坏毛
病都已经养成了习惯，要改也不太容易了。我还认识一个女生，跟着东部的爬得很一般
的人出去攀冰，领攀的人在三级路线上也爬得龇牙咧嘴的，还告诉她在这样的路线上挣

系以后，Quant Methods 更是王小二过年一年不如一年了，因为 Mahoney 的 Qual
Methods 显然获得了系里大多数传统PS教师的支持（其实在整个PS界也是），所以
Quant Methods的情形就越差了。。。但是现在只剩下两个老师，并且有一个马上也要
到 UC 伯克利去了。。。去年从 UIUC 挖到一个很不多的搞 Quant Methods 的老师，

制度主义全部，更不是比较历史分析的全部，他自己也不会这么说，恰恰相反，你举的
这篇文章他试图做的就是用INUS来重新解释population probability逻辑，这正是目前
的主流观点，当然我也没说他是stochastic的（欲加之罪。。。）。我也不同意他的某

再者是关于determinism，我最质疑的是你对于determinism的理解是：

东湾佛利蒙市週日晚发生街头抢劫桉，受害女生被贼匪连开两枪，幸没有生命危险。
事发于晚上9时半左右，地点在Mahoney街附近的Stanley大街，受害的39岁妇人在步行
期间，遇上一名年轻女子，她手持一枝手枪，喝令她交出手袋。
女生拒绝，结果被女疑犯开枪射中，女疑犯之后从乘客座位登上一辆深色SUV多功能车
，汽车接着驶离现场。
女疑犯被指是拉美裔，中等身材，年约十来至20岁，身高5呎4吋，蓄棕色曲髮，身穿长
袖红色灰间上衣。
妇人中枪后立即奔跑回家，由亲友送院救治，没有生命危险。
警方接报到场调查时，有附近住户报称听到3、4次”噗”声，但没有报警。
