Survey: 20 Md. Senators for Marriage Equality

As the Maryland legislature prepares to consider the marriage equality bill,
20 senators publicly support the measure. The bill needs 24 votes to pass
in the chamber.
According to a Washington Post survey, of the 47 senators, 18 have signed on
as co-sponsors of the bill, and two others support it. Six senators, all
Democrats, are undecided.

Wednesday on the marriage equality bill.
A hearing last Wednesday on the bill was delayed because of weather, reports
the Associated Press.
Advocates feel more hopeful about passage than in previous years, when

Md. Panel Advances Marriage Bill

Maryland senate chambers The Maryland senate judicial proceedings committee
voted 7-4 to legalize marriage equality, advancing the proposed bill to the
full senate next week.
The Baltimore Sun reports that senate president Thomas V. Mike Miller told
his colleagues to keep a flexible schedule next week to allow for the
anticipated lengthy debate. He said the final vote would be February 28.

R.I. Speaker Wants Early Marriage Vote

Rhode Island house speaker Gordon Fox is considering a judiciary committee
vote on the marriage equality bill this Thursday, the same day a senate
hearing is scheduled on the legislation.

consenting adults should be legal, the highest percentage ever recorded by
Gallup.
Researchers found that 64 percent of American adults supported legal gay

她不是反对marriage equality，
而是在关心marriage之后会对gay culture造成冲击。
这个类似的理论我也听说过，
gay culture之所以会成为culture，成因之一就是gay是受歧视的，
如果gay不受歧视，gay人群就会消解，不会再成为一个团体。
不过我觉得没什么好担忧的，消解就消解呗。有什么可惜的？
总不至于为了维护gay culture，还要特意保持受歧视的状态？
这不是本末倒置了嘛。 |

definition of marriage but there are plenty more (on adoption, etc).
The fact Article 1 was approved by a relatively comfortable margin is a good
sign because there were worries the overall bill could fail in the Senate (
