渡渡鸟，或作嘟嘟鸟（Dodo），拉丁学名：Raphus cucullatus又称毛里求斯渡渡鸟、
愚鸠、孤鸽，是仅产于印度洋毛里求斯岛上一种不会飞的鸟。这种鸟在被人类发现后仅
仅176年的时间里，便由于人类的捕杀和人类活动的影响彻底绝灭，堪称是除恐龙之外
最著名的已灭绝动物之一。也是毛里求斯唯一被定为国鸟的已灭绝鸟类。
牛津大学自然史博物馆（Oxford University Museum of Natural History）中，曾经
陈列有渡渡鸟最后一个完整的填充标本（标本号OUM 11605），可惜在1755年由于腐烂
而被馆长下令焚毁了。侥幸保存下来的一块头骨和一块脚骨，现在仍陈列在该馆中。

发帖数: 82482 | 13 到年底了，回头看看总结今年看过的几本书。感觉上今年大部分时间都泡在水里了，当然，这完全都是Patrick O'Brian的缘故。他的Aubrey-Maturin系列，总共二十本，今天已经看到第十七本了。所以，航海应该算是今年的主题。
好几年前，粗略看过这个系列的第一本书，《Master and Commander》，没有什么感觉。当时好像是Russell Crowe的同名电影刚上映，就把书拿过来翻翻。当时英语不好，说实话，没有怎么看懂。感觉非常晦涩，很多词字典里面都没有，就没有在意。囫囵吞枣看下来，反正战争动作场面还算精彩，而且作者的英国式幽默也算是很Charming，但是没有感觉非常特别。
今年年初的时候，把这个系列的第二本，《Post Captain》拿出来翻翻，感觉上容易好了很多。可能，这些年来英语有所长进；而且，几年来断断续续地翻看了不少关于帆船时代航海的参考书和图解的缘故。对于木制帆船的结构和航海技术有了粗略的了解，大体知道了Ship，Cutter和Barque的区别，知道了什么是 mizzen，topgallant，royal topgallant，以及studdingsa... 阅读全帖 |

2010年6月11日，印度结束了2.3GHz频带的电波拍卖。该频带将面向使用无线来提
供互联网访问的“宽带无线接入（Broadband Wireless Access，BWA）”。此次被拿来
拍卖的是20MHz带宽的两个频带，一个是为将整个印度作为服务区的通信运营商准备的
，另一个是为在22个服务区分别提供通信服务的通信运营商准备的。
整个印度使用的频带被印度Infotel Broadband Services竞得。另外，22个地区的
频带由5家公司分享。具体为印度Aircel获得了8个地区的频带，英国的 Augere（
Mauritius）获得了1个地区的频带，印度巴蒂电信（Bharti Airtel）获得了4个地区的
频带，印度TikonaDigital Networks获得了5个地区的频带，美国高通（Qualcomm）获

到了1975-1980年，中国排名跃升到了86位。
也就是说，毛时代将中国人均预期寿命的排名，整整往前拱了43位。
而到了2005-2010年呢，中国排名却又落后到了96位。
也就是说，改革开放时期，中国排名不但没有继续进步，反而大踏步后退了10名。

到了1975-1980年，中国排名跃升到了86位。
也就是说，毛时代将中国人均预期寿命的排名，整整往前拱了43位。
而到了2005-2010年呢，中国排名却又落后到了96位。
也就是说，改革开放时期，中国排名不但没有继续进步，反而大踏步后退了10名。

*为估计值，第一个IQ是2002年数据，第二个IQ是2006年修订数据，中国2006年人均IQ达
到105，排名世界第五，美国的人均IQ为98，名列第33位，俄罗斯为97，名列第36位，而
印度目前只有82。IQ最高的国家是新加坡，平均108 。
从表中可见，排名前30位的国家和地区，除了加拿大、澳大利亚和新西兰自外，都
位于欧洲和东亚，而东亚国家和地区则占据了前10名之中的8个。在名次靠前的国家中，
既有非常发达的国家，也有像中国、朝鲜、蒙古这样经济和社会发展比较落后的国家，
可见人均IQ跟一个国家的经济社会发展水平并没有必然联系。
