But not on a disease defined by western medicine.
Due to complexity of the disease defination, Chinese Med encounters a sample
size problem. However, the first case can be on trial.
Just on Cold, there are 8 types in Chinese Med and there are only two types
in "modern" medicine, one self-healable and the other into further infection

The point is -- we should know the facts, we should understand the differences and limitations of both Chinese Med and Western Med, and with real knowledge, we can make the best choices. |

mere proof that it's distinguishable from MD is not enough.
MD program is only 1 year longer and is not very hard to get in. There are
170+ ABA accredited law school and 140+ accredited medical school. If we
narrow the scope to only the top 100 law schools and med schools, I don't see
how med school is harder to get in than law school.

发帖数: 805 | 7 其实这个不能一股脑儿封杀，有的时候时间比学历paper，GC更重要。现在小盆友办GC
各种方法都有，未必靠积分卖苦力拼出来。若干年前med school还是全班citizen，现
在可能随着扩招越来越开放了吧。两年前我就有个朋友，全班唯一GC读med school. 也
看到有PhD学生期间就拿到med school offer，只是人家已经读了3.5yr书，老板比较
mean，让她多留实验室一年，运气好在med school给她保留一年offer.
所以，最重要的是早作准备，目标方向很清楚，坚持努力，机会总是有的。 当然，前
提是你对医学这个领域非常有兴趣，才可能支撑起若干年的寂寞及医学院/residency/
felowship4＋3～5＋2～3yr的煎熬。

Surg，比如心肺，骨科之类的Med/Surg,没有我们一般的Med/Surg，所以不知道哪个比
较合适自己。以前一直想着一毕业就到住院部，至少先学好基本的技能，了解各种不同
的疾病。参观了一下医院，看到他们women's health的工作环境挺好的，加上自己以前
OB实习的时候还挺喜欢的，不知道大家觉得妇科怎么样？谢谢意见！ |

From my point of view, tele is the worst unit in hospital.
some patients go to tele simply because there is no bed available in CCU/ICU.
ICU/CCU nurses only take 1-2 such patients while tele nurses have to take 4-
6 patients at same time.
81% Coded patient expired in my hospital in last 3 mnths. That means sick
patients in med/surg either die or go to other floor before coded. That is
why med/surg nurses are less stressful than tele.

taking Patho and Med/Surg together in 1st semester, sounds not easy. Health
Assessment is foundation, Clinical assessment based on it. this course does
not need too much critical thinking stuff=not difficult, if you are good at
memorizing things. Patho, 得认真学啊， 真的懂了病理， 对Med/Surg 帮助很大。

发帖数: 366 | 11 加速班毕业，我们班基本所有的同学都没有找工作的问题，有几个直接读各种NP，有些
没有毕业就有2个OFFER。有的准备去外州找工作，还有边读书边工作的，还有生完孩子
再工作的，总之各种情况的都有。简单介绍一下经验。
我们这个班进来竞争很激烈，大概是150多个才选20几个，而且基本每个人都有一些奖
学金，数额还很不小，所以申请2次进来的都很多。而且我们班的同学背景都很强，有
医学院的，兽医学院的，EMS的，药剂师助手TECH的等，有几个妈妈有3，4个孩子，有
单亲妈妈全职工作的。
最后我们班因为有家庭原因有一个延迟毕业的，另外3个好像是考试和实习出了点问题
，所以可能要延迟毕业。
介绍我自己的背景，我对自己这年的经验非常满意。我算是没有医疗背景的，但基础知
识很好，人不傻，英语沟通基本没有问题，而且也是学理科出生，家里有很强的医疗背
景，自己在本地的教学医院做了快2年的NA，包括申请前的全职和上学期间断断续续的
做。
我的先修课是在社区大学上的，学分绩是4.0. 现在加速班毕业BSN学分绩是3.9左右，
都是A，只有几个是A-，而且A-的课程都是无关痛痒的。好像只有MED/SURG核心课里... 阅读全帖 |

郭德纲都说了，说相声就拜说相声的为师，拜个泥瓦匠算啥。
再说了，生物索男都能转码公，
pre-med如果考不上医学院，转行也没那么难。
SAT短期内都是能提高的。 你自己考过就知道了。
“都是”我可没这么说。 我也说了，考医学院的学生里本科学BME,数学，物理的也是
有的，但总数上不能和学生物，化学的去比较。
既然那些考医学院的本身数学，物理能力那么强，为啥还有那么多人选生物，化学当作
自己的major? 你要知道，pre-med的学生不是谁最后都上得了医学院的，也有人成绩
其实不错但最后放弃医学院这条路的。本科念生物，化学一旦上不了医学院，其它职业
选择和数学，计算机专业的去比，会怎么个下场？很多就是跑去做lab technician了。 |

发帖数: 21830 | 21 丫还吹嘘什么havard的summer term, 美国大学的summer term的credit都可以transfer
的，havard也不例外。
随便举个例子，havard的pre-med要选science课，微积分和物理二选一，因为pre-med
的物理不需要微积分，所以几乎所有的pre-med的学生都选物理，因为只有这样才能保
证solid A.
但问题是havard的summer要5000刀，课还难上，所以很多学生就去state university选
summer physics,学费便宜，课好上，而且还可以transfer.所以你仔细看看美国很多大
学都把一期的summer变成2期，缩短时间，为的就是吸引这些学生。
月光从来没读过美国大学，所以一到这种具体问题的时候除了“名校”还是“名校”，
从来说不出什么具体的detail来。 |

american upbrining with a WSN father.
my uncle, the WSN father is a Ph.D and had worked for a telecom company all
his life in cenral NJ
all 3 kids are in their late 40s and early 50s now, they grew up in NJ in a
nice middle income house. None speaks a word of chinese because back in the
days, my uncle only spoke English at home as a way to americanize.
