男主和Tinker Tailor里的那个mole有点象，有才，自负，自私，自恋，到头来聪明反
被聪明误，完全活在自我世界里，愚蠢。
小说从北极圈严寒到新墨西哥酷暑跨度很大，作者McEwan文字水平了得，故事一般的情
况下，单论文字也很耐看，文笔辛辣，幽默，男主在北极圈露天方便，被冻住，误以为
自己那话儿被冻掉的那段实在是令人捧腹不止。 McEwan就属于那种永远也不可能得诺
贝尔文学奖，但是布克奖水准的作品也有几部。说到底他很聪明，从情节到人物的设计
都有点讨巧，讨市场的巧。
男主Beard，主要就是他的贪婪，表现在食欲和性欲上，还有对名利的贪恋。全球气候
变暖这个题材不好写，所以弄个男主角是诺贝尔物理学奖得主，弄点偷情、命案，也算
难为McEwan了。

China。书谈的是根据他总结出的所谓宗教历史规律，论证人类社会的复兴中心在地球
上的移动（欧洲-》美洲-》以色列-》中国）。他认为中国是下一个复兴中心，而中国
缺乏所需要的宗教力量。所以这是中国建立宗教而复习的机会。
我看了几章，但是本人非宗教人士，很多背景知识欠缺，感觉书还是蛮有意思的，但是

human knowledge and experiments(e.g. Mendel's experiments on peas which is a
good representation of what happened in the wild). It relies on the
assumption that there is no divine intervention since there is no reliable
evidence of divine intervention.
Why do you need a divine intervention anyway? Cann't you accept the natural
explanation of how water turns into ice in winter?

you suggest, and it's mechanism are explained by geneticists. But you choose
to ignore these mechanisms.
The randomness used in my arguments refer to a specific case where the
chances for a gamete(生殖细胞) receiving one allele(等位基因) or the other
is random. And it is proved by Mendel's experiments on peas. And it is
proved over and over that it is a good LAW that explains what happened in
the wild. |
