stated they are reliant on jobs created by rich people .
It's not elegantly stated, let me put it that way. I was speaking off the

认识很多中国人，给孩子取名还要加上一个middle name，有中文拼音，有英文，问他
们这啥意思，都说看别人孩子有middle name，他们也取一个，到现在不知道哪个sb开
的先例。
中国人名以外讲究的是“字”，问题这个“字”是自己起的，如果把middle name当作
“字”来理解，那也该是孩子自己起，不能家长把孩子姓名字号都给取了吧？！
听说很多外F女还给自己换了last name，添了middle name。

middle name是空着的，后续的Birth Certificate和SSN自然都是这样。
现在我们想把middle name加成妈妈的姓，而且我们有Hyatt Legal plan(一个employee
benefit)，能cover部分律师费，不过有下面些顾虑：
1. 宝宝以后如果遇到问填曾用名，是不是需要填这个没有middle name的名字？这个让
他以后做起来挺麻烦的。

其实美国人起middle name主要是为了give respect给某一个尊敬的人，用他的名字做
middle name，因为光是first name和last name太容易重名了。而且很多人的middle
name除非在与legal有关的时候用，其它时候好多时间是保密的。
有些中文名很绕口，不适合做first name，毕竟这里是说英文。小孩儿长大了，尤其是
在teenager的时候，别人叫不上名字或者给起相应的外号的时候，会觉得自卑。
话说回来了，这是个自由的社会，自己愿意起什么名字fn or mn，还是在父母的喜好。 |

发帖数: 792 | 33 更新一下。今天又打电话骚扰UA客服了，他们自己打电话问的国航，还是有问题。
楼上各位可能是电话订票，主要还是要看国航系统里面的名字，必须得有middle name
，也就是和护照完全match。我的问题是出来电脑订票，所以自动给产生了把middle
name 省略成initial。 碰到好的地勤，登机可能没事，但是我google 了确实有这个问
题而拒绝登机的旅客。
最后我的处理方式是UA帮我cancel了原来的reservation，他们手动输入或是打电话输
入国航航班的订票。才得到正确的我女儿的名字，但是我的confirmation号码变了，
eticket number没变。
经验就是UA里程定连程票还要换国内航班的一定要电话去定，要UA客服手动输入小孩的
middle name（middle name不能省略的）。如果就在美国境内飞或者不转国航的话没关
系。
感谢此哥们的帖子，我才知道国航那边还有另一个confirmation number，后来者引以
为戒吧。

还有一个折中的方案，就是取一个 nickname，平时放在中间，但加上引号。比如 Feng
“Fred" Feng。这样主要是提醒别人平时可以叫这个nickname。发文章的时候，有人
不放这个nickname，但也有人连发文章的时候，也把这个 nickname 一起加引号放上的
（但估计是一直这么用的）。 |

客服问了first name ，last name，没有提到middle name ，我也忘了说了。今天在网
站上看到有人说买国航票该怎么写名字我才想起两娃都有middle name。我们的这次行
程有UA， 国航（北京到二线城市），asiana。
不知道能否顺利登机。有人有过机票忘写middle name 顺利登机的经历吗？谢谢 |

听说middle name可以比较避免重名,一般中国人都是用中文名字的拼音做middle name.
当然也可以像老外一样用两个英文名,一个first,一个middle. |
