Cai Mingjie 是谁， 估计大多数usa的学生物的不太清楚。85届CUSBEA（80年代的中美
生化联合培养）学生之一。斯坦福博士毕业， 有cell。他可能没有同是CUSBEA的
xiaodong wang, xinyuan Fu ( 现head of department of biochemistry, NUS) 有名
。但是在， singapore， Cai minjie 是IMCB元老之一， 当年IMCB PhD admission
commmittee 的chair。一般来说， 能到IMCB的中国学生，多数是中科院，或是综合性
大学毕业的， 基础都不错。 IMCB这个所在九十年代末到2005大约十年间， 可谓是亚
洲细胞生物研究的一颗明星（平均每年2－3偏 CNS， high impact paper 许多)。 |

I bought it from us-mattress.com but found out it's too soft within a week.
The company does not offer return but only exchange. So I decided to get
another one from local store. This mattress ended up just being used for a
week or two.

其实是去年 8 月流传很广的一则新闻，我过了近一年才注意到，觉得很有意思。
蔡明杰（Mingjie Cai），中科院的硕士，斯坦福大学的博士，在新加坡科技研究局（A
*STAR）的分子与细胞生物学研
究所(Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology，IMCB）担任了 16 年的首席研究员
，2008 年突然遭到解聘。解聘的
原因，他在 blog 讲是“uniquely Singapore”新加坡特有的，但没有明确说怎么回事
。在他那个后来非常出名的 blog 的
第一篇文章里，他简略的讲了一点。大致是说，本来他在研究所里干得好好的，但是数
年前几个来自西方的“大牛”进入
管理层后，把那个地方搞得乌烟瘴气，管理混乱。尽管他对这个地方的贡献巨大，但在
管理层的操控和扭曲标准下，竟
然被解职，而且没有任何补偿。
失业后，他积极寻找新的工作，多处投递简历，但是没能找到合适的工作。他科研经历
丰富，学术成果也不少，为何会
找不到工作呢。我唯一能想到的求职劣势，是他失业时的年龄 |

Like PDZ domain in neuron junction? two PDZ domains from two differnt
proteins pull them together to perform the function.
Zhang Mingjie in HKUST studied a lot on PDZ and PDZ heterdimerization. you
