House Democrats staged protests Monday evening in response to a moment of
silence on the floor to remember the victims of the attack in a gay
nightclub in Orlando, the worst mass shooting in American history.
After Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) led the House in the moment of silence in
honor of the 49 people who died in the massacre on Sunday, the chamber
erupted into shouting as Democrats expressed frustration over the lack of
votes to restrict guns after repeated mass shootings.

For the first time since Donald Trump entered the political fray, I find
myself grateful that he’s in it. I’m reluctant to admit it and astonished

his ugly and gratuitous way at a rally on Tuesday. Perhaps it’s worth
unpacking this admission for those who might be equally astonished to read
it.
I’m grateful because Trump has not backed down in the face of the
slipperiness, hypocrisy and dangerous standard-setting deployed ...

How America Can Rise Again
Is America going to hell? After a year of economic calamity that many fear has sent us into irreversible decline, the author finds reassurance in the peculiarly American cycle of crisis and renewal, and in the continuing strength of the forces that have made the country great: our university system, our receptiveness to immigration, our culture of innovation.

Show How You Feel, Kavanaugh Was Told, and a Nomination Was Saved
WASHINGTON — Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh sat in the anteroom of Room 216 in
the Hart Senate Office Building, a sterile, living-room-like space with a
couch and a couple of armchairs and a large television on the wall. His
chances of joining the Supreme Court seemed to be vanishing. “Disaster... 阅读全帖

学寒叔,大喊一声, I Don't Want to Miss a Thing,Babe
I could stay awake just to hear you breathing
Watch you smile while you are sleeping
While you're far away and dreaming
I could spend my life in this sweet surrender
I could stay lost in this moment forever
Where every moment spent with you is a moment I treasure
Don't want to close my eyes
I don't want to fall asleep
Cause I'd miss you babe
And I don't want to miss a thing
Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream will never do
I'd still miss ...

Silencing the Guns
By DREW WESTEN
When Gabrielle Giffords tendered her resignation from the House of
Representatives to Speaker John Boehner because she did not feel she could
continue to serve at her current level of disability, the entire House
erupted in a rare moment of bipartisan unity, supporting their brave
colleague who had survived a bullet through the brain at point-blank range.
That was not, however, the first bipartisan moment related to the attack on
Gabby Giffor...

Journalists are evenly split on whether or not they should interview their
personal heroes: some say you shouldn't because you'll find your idol has
feet of clay, others argue the opportunity is too good to miss. For me, it
was a no-brainer. Lionel Messi is not only the shining star of my favorite

ARIES
You may still be feeling unseen or imperceptible to “others” but then in
reality 95% of you really IS invisible and untouchable. Fact.
To help you with the process of changing this mindset I want you to dwell on
the words of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow; “ the sky is filled with stars,
invisible by day”.
For example there is a hell of a lot of fun to be had out there and a lot of
it will be taking place at night…..if you get my drift. Whilst there have
been confusing elements within your emo...

What does procrastination tell us about ourselves?
by James Surowiecki October 11, 2010
Procrastination interests philosophers because of its underlying
irrationality.
Some years ago, the economist George Akerlof found himself faced with a
simple task: mailing a box of clothes from India, where he was living, to
the United States. The clothes belonged to his friend and colleague Joseph
Stiglitz, w...
