Beyond Machu Picchu -- Choquequirao, Lost City in the Clouds

The first rays of morning sunlight illuminate the great stone altar,
streaming through a square opening over my head. “Inti camac sumac,”
chants the priest. Soaked in sweat, I fight the bindings holding me to the
stone as the grinning, looming, scarlet-cloaked figure slowly brings down a

History is taught without monuments! Reverse Trump's logic: let's build
monuments to Jeffery Dahmer and serial killers, to the terrorists of 9/11 to
"teach future generations" about morality, murder, and terrorism! These
extreme examples show how the very hate, insanity, and brutality sanctioned
by these statues is denied and deflected by letting them remain. Their
removal is a "constructive" act--which teaches these values are not a part

(3). Montezuma Castle National Monument

Chiricahua national monument

The Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument (BLM Rio Puerco Field Office)
is a remarkable outdoor laboratory, offering an opportunity to observe,
study, and experience the geologic processes that shape natural landscapes.
The cone-shaped tent rock formations are the products of volcanic eruptions
that occurred 6 to 7 million years ago and left pumice, ash and tuff
deposits over 1,000 feet ...
