截至2月15日24时，中国大陆的新冠肺炎累计确诊病例达到68500例，疑似病例8228例，
累计死亡病例达到1665人。
这场始于2019年年底的疫情，令不少人回想起在2003年春季爆发的SARS疫情。两者的发
展似乎存在不小的相似性：病原体都是由动物传染到人的冠状病毒，都在上一年的年末
发现无法确诊的肺炎病例，都遭遇过春运的人流高峰（2003年的除夕是1月31日）。
自然而然地，不少科学家在疫情一开始就想通过分析SARS和新冠肺炎发展蔓延的情况对
比，预测今年疫情的发展趋势，为接下来的防疫决策提供有效信息。然而，一个令人困
扰的问题是，尽管17年过去了，科学家们想要获取官方统计的2003年SARS疫情数据仍然
困难重重。
北京大学统计学讲席教授陈松蹊就是其中一位。1月25日，他告诉《知识分子》，现在
