一、引言
随着数字化、网络化、全球一体化信息时代的来临，多媒体技术成为信息技术的重要
组成部分。它包括声音、图形、数据以及图像在内的多种媒体信息的传送和处理，其关键
在于压缩技术。MPEG是活动图像专家组(Moving Picture Exports Group)英文的缩写，于
1988年成立，是为数字视/音频制定压缩标准的专家组，目前已拥有300多名成员，包括IB
M、SUN、BBC、NEC、INTEL、AT&&T等世界知名公司。MPEG组织最初得到的授权是制定用于
“活动图像”编码的各种标准，随后扩充为“及其伴随的音频”及其组合编码。后来针对
不同的应用需求，解除了“用于数字存储媒体”的限制，成为现在制定“活动图像和音频
编码”标准的组织。目前为止，在视频压缩领域MPEG成为最热也是应用最多的压缩技术。
随着互联网和宽带的发展，MPEG技术越来越多的在各个领域得到应用。
二、MPEG的发展及其应用

遍关心的热点问题，特别是在网络和数字媒体产业迅速发展的今天，统一的技术标准的制
定与实施更显得尤为迫切。运动图像专家组--MPEG（Moving Picture Expert Group）是
专门从事多媒体音、视频压缩技术标准制定的国际组织，成员包括近30个国家、200多个
公司和组织的400多位专家。该组织自1988年以来，已经制定了一系列国际标准，其中MPE
G-1、MPEG-2已为人们所熟知，这两个标准为VCD、DVD及数字电视等产业的发展奠定了基
础。目前正在制定MPEG-4、MPEG-7和MPEG-21 将为多媒体数据压缩和基于内容检索的数据
库应用提供一个更为通用的平台，必将对下一代视、音频系统和网络应用产生深远的影响
。
一、MPEG组织的基本情况
制定MPEG标准的国际组织全称为 ISO/IEC/JTC1/SC29/WG11。ISO/IEC/JTC1（国际标

5、MPEG-21标准及其应用
互联网改变了物质商品交换的商业模式，这就是“电子商务”。新的市场必然带来新
的问题：如何获取数字视频、音频以及合成图形等“数字商品”，如何保护多媒体内容的
知识产权，如何为用户提供透明的媒体信息服务，如何检索内容，如何保证服务质量等。
MPEG-21就是在这种情况下提出的。
MPEG-21的正式名称是多媒体框架，又称数字视听框架（Digital Audio-Visual
Framework）。它的目标就是理解如何将不同的技术和标准结合在一起，需要什么样的新
标准以及完成不同标准的结合工作。简言之，制定MPEG-21标准的目的是：(1)将不同的协
议、标准、技术等有机地融合在一起；(2)制定新的标准；(3)将这些不同的标准集成在一
起。MPEG-21标准其实就是一些关键技术的集成，通过这种集成环境就对全球数字媒体资
源进行透明和增强管理，实现内容描述、创建、发布、使用、识别、收费管理、产权保护

DVD(Digital Video
disc),即数字化视频光盘。DVD是一种光学磁盘存储技术，采用的是MPEG-2数字压缩技术
，DVD光盘看上去像CD-ROM磁盘，但它能存储更多的数据。它能播放出高清晰、逼真、色
彩鲜艳的图像画面及优美动听的声音，可根据盘片的设计内容来自由选择多种可变的语言
字幕、画面章节。DVD通常用于存储整部电影和需要大量存储空间的其他多媒体内容。笔
者在此介绍的是将这种压缩格式的文件转换为另一种占用磁盘空间更少、而且画面质量不
差、也带有多种语言字幕的一种的文件，即MPEG-4格式的文件。
选择MPEG－4的理由
MPEG-4是一种最新的视频压缩/解压缩技术，又叫“DivX”。这种技术的最显著特点是,
此类文件不但压缩率高，而且画面质量相当好。两小时的高清晰度DVD影像, 可以压缩成
两张甚至一张CD-ROM的容量，而画面质量的损失并不多，MPEG-4文件约为同样播放时间的
VOB 文件的 1/5 到 1/10，这意味着不需要有DVD-ROM就可以欣赏近似DVD质量的高品质影
像! 因此, 把MPEG-4称为“普通光驱上的DVD |

MPEG-4 version 2以后不断扩充，studio profile可以看成mpeg-2的替代。
scalable profile and main profile仍然面对low bitrate同时也是MPEG-1的替代品，
并且强调scalable(temproal and spatial)streaming profile针对streaming media传
输。
至于encoder/decoder,我不认为一方是固定的，OD,BIFS,MUX这些是固定的
但是里面的codec是可以定义的，甚至可以用自己的plug-in,而且在mpeg-J(java)
出现后，灵活性更大了。
另外，mpeg-4和jpeg2000和H.26X开发保持协作关系，其中很多算法定义
都有一定的重叠性，针对得引用目标领域有差异而已。mpeg-4采用了wavelet
algorithm,其他遍准也采用了。这个在mpeg-4一个BIFS的例子里面可以看到
专门比较了wavelet vs. DCT效果。所以我相信motion-jpeg2k肯定还是有新东西的。

网络应用最重要的目标之一就是进行多媒体通信。多媒体信息主要包括图像、声音和
文本三大类，其中视频、音频等信号的信息量是非常大的。而且这些信息的表达方式、输
入、输出的要求也各不相同，因此在多媒体通信中，对这些数据进行有效的表达和适当处
理是非常重要的。其中，多媒体信息的压缩技术是多媒体通信领域的关键技术之一。MPEG
应运而生，对多媒体通信的发展起到了革命性的推动作用。
MPEG是Moving Pictures Experts Group,动态图象专家组的英文缩写，这个专家组始
建于1988年，专门负责为CD建立视频和音频标准，其成员均为视频、音频及系统领域的技
术专家。由于ISO/IEC1172压缩编码标准是由此小组提出并制定MPEG由此扬名世界。对于
今天我们所范指的MPEG-X版本，是指一组由ITU(International Telecommunications
Union)和ISO(International Standards Organization)制定发布的视频、音频、数据的
压缩标准。

基于内容检索系统的一般结构
基于内容检索(CBR)系统虽然没有统一的形式，但一般由两个子系统构成：数据库生成子
系统和数据库查询子系统。每个子系统由相应的功能模块和部件组成，如图1所示。
特征抽取
对视频、图像等多媒体数据自动或半自动地进行特征抽取，提取用户感兴趣的、适合检索
要求的特征。特征提取可以是全局性的，如整幅图像和视频镜头，也可以针对某个目标，
如图像中的子区域、视频中的运动对象等。
数据库
生成的数据库由媒体库、特征库和知识库组成。媒体库包含多媒体数据，如图像、视频、
音频、文本等。特征库包含用户输入的特征和预处理自动提取的内容特征。知识库包含领
域知识和通用知识；可以更换知识库中的知识表达方式，以适应不同领域的应用。
检索(匹配)引擎
检索是利用特征之间的距离函数来进行相似性匹配。模仿人类的认知过程，近似得到数据
库的认知排序。对于不同的媒体数据类型，具有不同的相似性测度算法。检索(匹配)引擎
中有一个较为有效、可靠的相似性测度函数 |

我试了把你给我的那个改成framerate=20/1就报错，但是改成framerate=25/1就OK。
你给我的那个是这样的:

这个运行OK。但是如果直接写成framerate=25/1就报错。
于是我加了"!videoscale!"在decodebin和cap之间，又把framerate改成15:

一般来说一个video标准应该都是stream的。
这样可以保证real-time播放,而且有一点损失也可以。
在mpeg-4 video VM中，
MPEG-4分frame的。
可以分I frame,B-frame,P-frame.
暂时不考虑mpeg-4的object-based compression.
只考虑mpeg-1,2的类似部分。
那么在stream的头部提供了frame的含多少macroblock
等数据，这样就可以计算一下，next frame有多少数据。
同时还有resynchronization marker.
用于重定位。
所以基本结构可以这么来看。
|RS marker|Header|data|RS Marker|Header|data|...
这样重复构成一个stream.
我已经有不少记不住了，不知道是否完全准确
基本就是这样，你可以去mpeg专家组的homepage看一下他们的faq
我不知道你要做什么，所以不知道这么说有没有用。

Frame rate, bit rate etc. can be found the MPEG "sequence header".
However, for variable bit rate MPEG stream, the bit rate is not constant.
Generally you can not know the exact number of bits for one frame unless you
reach the synch word for the next frame, even for constant bit rate video.
You need the MPEG document to know the syntax of the MPEG stream.
