quarterback Cam Newton garner all the
headlines this season.
Fairley was among five finalists for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy announced
Wednesday by the Football
Writers Association of America and the Charlotte Touchdown Club.
The other finalists are
Clemson defensive end Da'Quan Bowers,
Georgia linebacker Justin Houston,
Boston College linebacker Luke Kuechly and
LSU cornerback Patrick Peterson.

would mark the first time in over four decades (since the hiring of Bob
Devaney in 1962) that the Cornhuskers would be led by a head coach with no
direct ties to the university either as a player or an assistant coach.

西北是大十的元老学校，在1895年和purdue, illinois, michigan, minnesota,
chicago, wisconsin共同成立了大十联盟。是的，那会儿还没我盖什么事儿呢，这学术
水平估计也看不上我盖。因为chicago很早就离开大十了，西北就成了大十唯一的私立
学校，也是最小的。
历史上，西北一共得过8次大十champion, 最近的一次是2000年，当时的教练是randy
walker。一共打过13（3-10）次碗赛，其中有7次都是在现任教练pat fitzgerald任内
。赢的3次中有两次是pat任内，2012和2016。碗赛一会儿再详述。
2006年6月，年仅52岁的前任教练randy walker突发心脏病去世。pat临危受命，接任西
北主教练，当时才31岁，ncaa div I 最年轻的教练，名副其实的小鲜肉（此刻花痴5秒
）。
帅哥大学时就是西北的明星linebacker（1993-96），带领球队在95和96年两次夺得大
