Looks like she put together a nice project, but as for innovation I
don't think credit is being given where it's due.
Here's her paper(add dots remove spaces) usc edu / CSSF / History/2013/
Projects / S0912 pdf
Her "supervisor" Dr. Yat Li had already published work on this technology a
year earlier. "Hydrogenated TiO2 Nanotube Arrays for Supercapacitors"

but we can only grow several cm long and we can hardly separate different
sized CNT.

交大物理系孙弘教授研究小组博士生周玮同学最近在物理学领域顶级刊物
Physical Review Letters上发表科研论文(“Soft Bond-Deformation Paths in
Superhard γ-Boron”,Phys. Rev. Lett., vol.105, p.215503 (2010))。论文采用
第一性原理方法计算研究了硼元素材料中硼原子共价键可能存在的“软化”现象。
由于轻元素硼、碳、氮等可形成强度高和方向性强的原子共价键,这些轻元素是构
造超硬材料的重要元素。但硼元素比较奇特,硼原子外层只有三个价电子,硼原子既可
以两两形成二中心的共价键,也可以在三个构成等边三角形的硼原子中形成三中心键。
近年来研究发现利用硼原子二中心和三中心原子键的混合结构可以形成结构更加稳定的
硼纳米材料,如硼膜(a-sheet)、硼富勒烯(B80)、硼纳米管(a-nanotube)和硼
纳米带(a-nanoribbon)等等。但从未有人研究过硼原子三中心键对硼元素材料结构
强度和结构变化的影响。

yes, you are right.
ibm在Si怎么也拼不过intel。本来就没有那种破釜沉舟的气势。intel就靠这个活着,
死活也要把东西做出来。ibm现在还
整天讨论要不要把semiconductor这块买出去呢。
下一代技术ibm要押宝carbon nanotube/ graphene了,希望不要死的很难看。

说说碳纳米管表面氧化的两篇文章
这两年碳纳米管表面修饰方面做的文章很多,作者大都claim首先在表面上氧化形成
COOH集团,然后COOH就可以做各种化学反应接上各种好玩的东西了,这方面Tour JM等
同志已经做了很多。
今天我们不谈Tour,专门说说这个氧化的过程。很奇怪的是,很少有人讨论这个氧化的
过程,当然,这个东西也确实不好表征。。。最近的两篇文章倒是对此进行了一些讨论
,讨论的结果也很有意思。当然,这个结果对不对还是仁者见仁智者见智,但是至少可
以给我们一个很好的idea,呵呵。。。

这是FLOTU有史以来承办的最大规模会议,
有600多人参加,400多是从中国以外国家或地区去的。
一些很有影响力的纳米领域学者也参加了。
包括Ijima和Hongjie Dai等
应该是国内承办的比较不错的一个大会。
By the way, 国内(包括小楼)这几年在纳米管方面做了不少工作。
这个会议能放在国内承办,我觉得还是很好的宣传国内工作的机会

另一类是电分析方面的,被他称为“Raspberries”---“There is a trend in
electroanalysis to explore composite modified electrodes--that is,
electrodes coated with a mixture of materials-generally aiming at a more
