），eb1a几乎不可能，NIST那边答应可以办H1B（学术界的），但不sponsor绿卡，但是
倾向于OPT做博后，不想办学术界H1B，回头转工业界H1B没法转。有谁清楚里面的情况
，主要是关心后面绿卡申请，犹豫是去这里做博后还是去工业界直接工作。是不是回头
可以签contractor,然后帮忙申绿卡。听说里面工作的中国人不少，求热心人指点！！

apartments along MD 355 which is not far away from NIST.As you have school
kid, I do not recommend you live there. There are many Lao Mo and Lao Hei
there. So the housing is cheaper. Generally speaking, west side of I270 is
better than east side of I270. west side of MD 355 is better than the east
side of MD 355.

如果是apartment 的话，附近有很多，但是要打电话问问在你来的时候会不会有空的。
你可以先在网上用apartment guide 上找一下，设置一下范围，找到之后也可以查
review也可以来这里问问。 据我所知，附近就有grove park , orchard pond,距离
NIST都是步行距离，两个block而已。当然也有别的。
如果是住别人的house的话，也有很多广告，本版就有一些。NIST有很多短期的 guest
researcher,所以附近有很多人租房子给他们，流动性蛮大的。另外如果你是女生的话

发帖数: 4074 | 47 我们住brighton，还可以。前面有shopping center包括亚洲店和一元店等，后面有公
园。虽然两年前连续发生过两次抢劫，但这两年好像还可以。住户最多的是老印，所以
有时楼道里有咖喱味儿。总的来说还算安全、方便的社区。
房子方面建议住顶层。这里楼板太老，不结实，走路重了家具都会颤，楼下就可想而知。
NIST周围还有Governors Square，Orchard pond等公寓，价格都差不太多（都算上水电气费用）。我们当时也是看了好些公寓后选择了brighton village。
Brighton village去年底搞过1500的促销，但是现在好像没有了。连referral的bonus
都降到100——貌似人家很满意自己的入住率。其实09年的时候600来套房子基本上有10
%空着。NIST员工有折扣，以前7%，现在好像只有5%，不过不太好操作，尤其是新来的。他们要paycheck并且是签contract的同时递交。anyway，平时他们也会有点折扣，好多时候直接给5%。
另外，建议270以东的公寓尽量不要选择。 |

发帖数: 4074 | 48 NIST周围价格都差不多。2 bedroom基本就这个价，再少你也不敢去住。争取争取1405
打个5-7%的折扣吧。去年我们搬进来的时候，没有NIST的paycheck或者card，也要到了
5%。我想offer letter什么的应该能有说服力吧。
今年房租涨了，从折扣前1340到了1405。但是到处也都在涨吧。Governors Square房租
差不多，省了电和气费用（大概平均每月70左右）。但是好像他们的review不是很好。
Jefferson at Orchard Pond还可以，便宜几十块吧，也有一些中国人住那边。去年我
们去看的时候，听人说小强比较厉害，给吓退了。
如果有父母要过来，个人认为brighton village的环境更适合一些。 |
