North Valley has "good" schools when comparing to Evergreen.
Which one is better really depends on personal preferences and of course
also budget.
For example, let's assume you work at Cisco, then if you can't stand 30
minutes or so commute and will use private schools anyway, North Valley
definitely offers much more convenience than evergreen. If you don't mind 30

爬山地点： Kamikaze Falls Trail @North Bend，47.486179 -121.

爬山时间：我估计上去下来大概总共要4小时。我周日12:45-1点从trailhead集合出发，电话425.390.4886没接通可留言。愿意带领周六去爬山的同学请联系我。
介绍：上周日爬豹子山据说去了近30个人，是有很多带娃的。这次难度稍高，貌似一路风景也还不错。不喜爱爬山的家属可以选择去附近看Snoqualmie Falls(月族大瀑布）、逛outlet，也减轻趴车压力。下山腐败可选择豪华Falls Buffet、Issaquah的Gilman路新开的豆花庄或小四川等。
注意：发完这个爬山消息以后，我发现这个瀑布实际上政府是不鼓励大家去看的，怕影响植被及野山羊的生存环境。所以如果大家这次去的话，千万要注意不要破坏环境。
天气：目前看North Bend周末的天气还行，周六白天说是阴天，可能有雨0.08in（间歇毛毛雨），周日目前的预测还是0.0in，还是建议大家穿稍微有点防雨的服装就好。

1. Generally speaking, rent on the north side of irving is going to be more
expensive than the south side, but the north side is also a nicer&safer
place to live.
2. avoid the south side of irving at all cost. even though the rent might
be cheaper, but it is not worth to risk your safety just to save a couple
hundred dollars on the rent each month. Plus, you are planning to find a
roommate anyway, so your rent will be split in half.

刚到家。周六一早单枪匹马开车去Grand Canyon，700 miles/12 hours。
和湾区来的大部队碰面，吃了点方便面，9:20pm和两位hiking高手开始往
下走。北面14miles，一路小跑4个多小时就到了谷底，然后往南面爬。到
Indian Garden的时候我让那两位勇士先走，他们上山如履平地，我实在跟
不上，好在天也快亮了。到南面trail head的时候是早上6:40am。稍微休
息了一下，试图联系从南面走的R2小组未果。考虑了一下再下去的后果。听
说有Rim to Rim的shuttle，所以我要是现在改变主意可以坐车回北面，但
是一旦往下走就没有回头的路。来的时候是24miles，我打算原路返回，一来

听信了天气预报，以为周三天气不错，于是就旷工一天半，到north maroon peak上转
了一圈。
周二下午五点到了maroon lake（坐最后一班bus去的，就载了我一个人），与目标合影
一张（1）。
（2）近看north maroon
然后夜宿crater lake，第二天也就是周三天不亮就上路了（3）
（4）朝阳照耀在山上
然后就一路爬山，虽然路陡且窄，但也还凑合。唯一的危险是在second gully，如果上
方有人或羊发动落石的话，还是颇为令人胆战的。
（5）是所谓的crux，很困难吗？
爬到高处一看，snowmass的雪都化光了（6）

快要到顶的时候，发现西边突然变天了（8）

发帖数: 1115 | 21 打算五月份去走north rim to south rim，因为本人体力一般，所以打算三天走完，在
下面camp两晚上。因为填backcountry permit要选campground，所以来问问怎么安排合
适。
第一天如果中午到north rim trailhead基本打算下到cottonwood住第一晚。
第二晚有两个选择，要么bright angel campground，要么indian garden campground
。因为第三天都是上山会比较慢，所以倾向住过了河的indian garden。这样的话，第
二天要从cottonwood走到Indian garden，差不多12mile。这样不知道可不可行？
如果第三天如果从indian garden开始，到south rim大概只有5mile不到，应该三四个
小时可以完成。这样还可以赶上下午1点半去north rim的shuttle。
我目前的水平差不多是13 mile的round trip, 两三千elevation gain，可以在6个半小
时完成。但是从没在夏天走过这么长的路。我这么安排不知道现实吗？

发帖数: 1371 | 24 这个雪季雪下的比较多，所以ABasin的east wall三月份就开放了(去年四月底才开放，
前年没有开放)。
于是昨天扛着板子爬到east wall的山脊上，从north pole滑了下来。
用两张别人的east wall照片，自己做了标注：
要到north pole的顶点，需要从最高的lift顶端开始爬山，到了山脊上再沿着山脊上上
下下走一段。总共走了半个小时的样子（包括四处观望），elevation gain大约500尺。
比起去年五月，现在似乎雪还不算多，coverage有点不够。north pole的雪坡上有不少
石头突出。雪况其实不算差，不过我的雪板似乎有点窄了...腰只有80mm，其实还能凑
合，但是有点影响做动作的信心，滑的过程中有时很希望板变宽。

说实话，滑得比较矬。开始的第一个turn很糟糕倒是情理之中的。后来因为雪况和突出
的石头造成的恐惧感，中间还有一次用了falling leaf，一次坐地turn（视频里被剪掉
了）。到最后，可能是体力和信心快耗尽了，其实靠近底下traverse线路的地方已经不
陡了，还是只敢蛙跳，不能正常滑。

发帖数: 188 | 25 上次在这里问过有关MT Baker的信息，不过知道的人并不多。这是我认识的一个热爱旅
游的朋友介绍的。她让我skip North Cascade,但是一定要去MT Baker。结果我们就一
天之内把这两个地方给去了。
North Cascade:正如朋友所言，假如在这里不Hiking的话，确实可以不用到North
Cascade。一路风景秀美，但是没有太多特色。我们还带了一个小宝宝，最长的trail走
了不到一英里。现在去沿途都是高山雪水融化形成的小瀑布，湖水和河水都非常绿，感
觉蛮山清水秀，蛮悠闲的地方。但是没有MT Rainier 和Olympic那种大气和震撼。
Mt Baker： 沿着542往东30几个英里开，就可以到达Mt Baker的Artist Point，这里四
处雪山环绕，可以近距离看冰川，瀑布，高耸的Mt.Baker雪山，还可以看到Mt.shuksan
在湖中的倒影，仿佛置身于人间仙境。

发帖数: 1149 | 26 从sourth rim到north rim，我想大部分人第一次还是从page走的吧，之后再去可能想
从inner canyon走。在我看，north rim风光与south rim有很大不同，毕竟海拔不同，
树木，岩石都不一样，而且相对于sourth rim，north rim安静，纯净，我挺喜欢的，
建议楼主时间允许的话，还是去一次。
Rimrock hoodoos离Page大概30个mile，page往西北走89A，不过去那块最好要4驱，而
且做好hiking准备。wave也一样，而且要去官网提前3个月申请permit，更麻烦。
还是看自己对那种地形的狂热程度和时间，来决定要不要去这些地方吧。
Lake Powell那里靠近89A那，已经有不少好看的了，去nps网站找找吧,glen canyon

搞笑的是sociology的人也很激动，关他们什么事啊，老威的名声、学生都是经济的圈

barnabas hospital at NJ。
说来有趣，这两家医院我都不是第一次去了，2007，08两年我以其他兼差的机会来过这
两家医院参观，当时不仅转了几个临床科室(病理倒只是看了CP的化验室)，还听到了医
院的管理者对医院的介绍，当时就留下了很好的印象。特别是North shore-Long
island jewish hospital，这次面试已经是我第四次去了，感觉还蛮亲切的。
North shore-Long island jewish医疗集团一共包括十多家医院，服务的范围以纽约的
长岛，皇后区和staten island为主。其中以北岸大学医院和长岛犹太医院规模最大。
刚刚问了实验室一个phd学生对于这两个医院的评价，因为他们家从他的爷爷辈儿就生
活在纽约，现在父母家住在长岛，他先反问我，是personal opinion吗？我说是，他就
说他的评价非常高，这是一家值得让人信赖的医院，然后例举了家里老老少少就医的经
