Indeed, there are many Ph.D. programs that can be closed. The first one on
my list to close would be the Religion program in Columbia university. Why
do we need Ph.D.'s specializing in religion? Leave that area to the rabis
and ministers!

A lot of 1960s houses and before are (IMHO) better quality than more-
recently built houses but old and new houses both have their pros and cons.
Old house pros:
Established neighborhoods
Usually closer to the action
Mature landscaping
Usually more variety in terms of age/life situations
Finish is less luxurious but materials are higher quality
Homes have more character and do not all look alike
Homes often have features that are rarely seen anymore like whole-house fans
