－－从Gerry McNamara的职业道路谈起

Gerry McNamara是我很熟悉的一位篮球运动员。我不是篮球爱好者，知道的篮球运动员也不多。Gerry有何特别之处？
我于2001年进入Syracuse University读研究生。Gerry则于2002年夏加入了SU的篮球队。2002－2003赛季，Cameron Anthony和Gerry McNamara这两位一年级新生构成了一个璀璨的双子星座，联手把Orangemen送上了NCAA男篮冠军的宝座。随后，这两个人却走上了不同的道路。Cameron凭借着突出的身体条件和技术条件，直接走进了NBA，并打得风生水起；Gerry却由于先天条件不足－－身高只有六英尺二，继续在NCAA中为Orangemen征战。缺了Cameron的Orangemen实力大减，虽然Gerry又为SU每场不拉地打了三年好球，但整个球队的表现却再也没有重现他大一那年的辉煌。

Syracuse University有的文章翻译为雪城大学，有的文章就是直译为锡拉克斯大学甚
至锡拉丘斯。几种翻译法都给人以不恰当的联想，呵呵，其实这个大学是个很漂亮的大学
。雪城大学座落在纽约州的Syracuse镇，学校比较杜克(DUKE), 北卡罗来那大学(UNC)和
堪萨斯大学(UK)，是个小学校，学生不到一万五千，比不得其他三所大学动辄3，4万人。
雪城大学的NCAA战绩也没法和以前提过的三所名门望族相比了，在2003年以前，从没有获
得过NCAA总冠军，最好也就是打进过总决赛。可以说是NCAA的高级平民，呵呵。要想获得
全美国大学篮球贵族的承认，就必须获得一次NCAA冠军。
雪城大学的体育别号是Orangemen, 中文就是橙人的意思。学校体育的颜色是橙色。雪
城大学篮球队的主场队服也是一身桔黄色。和杜克的蓝鬼，UNC的焦油脚跟，UK的小鹰一
样，在美国，只要说橙人，就是指的雪城大学体育。雪城大学的主教练叫Jim Boeheim，
是咱们下面故事的主人公，他的经历比Roy Williams的更神奇，也更让人感慨。

Orangemen is currently 19th at AP Poll, 13th at ESPN.
Vick had decided to come to Syracuse football team as his
first choice,
but afraid of living in the shadow of McNabb, joined VT.
Sigh! The football team
was ranked neally the lowest at Big East for its recruiting
team, only a new QB
Howard is ranked 4 stars in High school players. Like
Mcnabb,he is good at
rushing.

In college hostory, Noter dame is the most famous, and other

发帖数: 911 | 14 今天开车考察了九月份orangemen 70.3的骑车赛段，前半程就是往山上骑，28英里的赛
段要爬升2300英尺，太恐怖了！上个月我参加的奥运距离三项，爬升只有900英尺，已
经把我累得够呛。
决定只报70.3的游泳部分，1.2英里ocean swim。Vineman 70.3，骑车赛段只要爬升400
英尺。就算以艰难著称的wildflower 70.3，爬升也只有900英尺。
明年三月份往南一个小时的地方有个Oceanside 70.3，考虑参加。当然最想参加的还是
明年7月份的Vineman 70.3，不过从南加开车过去要八个小时，有点远。
