audience members filed out of the
Theater @ 1800, having taken in a night of music from “Star Wars” and
other blockbuster movies, they paused briefly
to press yellow sticky notes on the theater lobby walls.
On the notes, which were distributed earlier with the concert programs, were
the handwritten notes of praise,
constructive criticism, and suggestions that audience members jotted down

never see any clear answer.
First for a given performance, usually the composer set the number of each
instruments that are needed, probably not for strings, but for wind and brass
instruments.
In real performances, it seems that some orchestra follow this strictly, while

I own the complete symphony cycle recorded by various European orchestras as
well as American and Japanese ones. Just looking to buy one (or more) done
by fellow Chinese musicians. (I couldn't find any such CD on my last trip
to Shanghai, but I was in a hurry and only checked one 新华书店.)
BTW, I have the Shanghai Quartet CD for Op. 59 Nos. 2 & 3. Excellent
interpretation and performance!

的 Orchestra Concert 。（原谅我用英文吧，我实在翻译不好这些名词）
先是 6年级的学生演奏。接下来是 Chamber Orchestra 的演出。Chamber Orchestra
是6、7、8三个年级里挑出来的学生组成的。听着看着，然后发现，这其中，黑头发黄
皮肤的占大多数，得有三分之二。
再下来是7、8年级合演。舞台上都坐满了，总共将近90个学生，很壮观哪。Violin I，
Violin II， Viola，Bass， Cello。很好听。然后7 年级的学生离开，一个8年级的
女生 Violin 独奏，有钢琴伴奏，演完之后掌声雷动，很多听众站了起来在鼓掌，然后
又有很多人也陆续跟着站起来鼓掌，有人给这女生献花。接下来就是Wind Ensemble 走
上舞台坐好，与Orchestra 合演了一支曲子。然后是8年级的学生演奏。最后一曲是7、
8年级合演的。
整个是近1.5 个小时的音乐会。真的感觉很不错。下个周四，是Band Concert 了，包

便对本站进行考古并对google搜索。现在总结如下：
座位布局和定价
以我们去的Majestic Theatre为例（布局应该是有代表性的）：前面是舞台，舞台下面
是乐池（Orchestra），乐池会露出个小缝，可以看见指挥（估计是为了证明是现场演奏
而不是放录音）。整个一楼都叫做Orchestra，二楼（Mezzanine）很长，分为Front Me
zzanine和Rear Mezzanine。Orchestra和Front Mezzanine是最好也最贵的票，而Rear
Mezzanine 通常会被细分成两三个票价，当然是越远越便宜了。我觉得Rear Mezzanine
是最划算的：Majestic Theatre的Rear Mezzanine只要$20，跟看场电影加可乐爆米花差
不多（而orchestra要$100）。Orchestra的最后几排离舞台很远，又很贵，不推荐买。
买票途径：
