篇文献，报告，脑细胞死掉无数。这个星期一正式动笔写的。这个周末把计划部分写完
。跟大家比，我实在是太不敬业了。不过education outreach都是原来就写好的，稍作
改动。

grants from NSF, NASA, DOE, and DOD belong to that category. If so, it
seems not very useful to put efforts to apply for. I'm planning on one of
these. Maybe I should consider to give up. Or maybe I should mainly focus on
research grants, then try 1 or 2 educational grants in order to strengthen
my teaching performance. |

Based on my interaction with other PIs from R1 schools, they are also paying
more attention to education/outreach grant which are usually multi-million
$$. Many of these grant also has research components, e.g. do research and
bring the research to community. |

This position is support by an institute within Univerisity, not by
individual faculty. In the job description, it's said that successful
applicant will be expected to attact external funding and may play a major
role in classroom instruction and academic advisement of undergraduate
students. It also mentioned opportunities to interact with stakeholders and

两所都是一般大学， 研究和教学并重。 本人研究面较宽， 曾做technician， 一直希
望有自己的实验室。基本工资差不多。领导在两地都可以找到工作。本人女， 计划接
下来工作和生孩子两头抓。
A．Mideast寒冷小镇。有实验室和相关技术人员 （系里有一位Electronic Engineer负
责维修仪器, 实验室和系里的其他仪器共享一位technician，实验室已经在运转了）。这是吸引我的最最主要原因。系主任说该technician在我的前
两年主要为我工作。系里可能的合作比较有意思。尽管系里的仪器都是共享， 其他人
的研究可以用到我的仪器， 但我将是唯一懂得， 和能解释相关数据的人。 但是州里
经济差， 教学楼和办公用具很陈旧。 当初面世感觉回到了九十年代的中国。工作环境
差， 自己认为想丛国内吸引人都难。 相邻好学校多，招好学生很难。此外，感觉学校
的管理制度落后， 做事磨蹭，系主任权利很大。我的start-up 主要是围绕仪器前两

看了一下评语,4个reviewer的comments其实都很positive,每个人都说这个research is
novel,important and will have broad impacts in industry.
被据的理由是: 1, 没有industry的 support letter
2. 没有 outreach 的 support letter
3. PI和Co-PI分工不明确.
其实我是交了1和2的support letter的,我自己都可以在fastlane里看到. 3 也不是什
么大不了的问题,其实proposal里也写的比较具体了,只是reviewer没怎么仔细看.
我现在想能不能去和PO argue一下啊.明明我交了support letter的,为什么reviewer没
看到,都说没有.
这个proposal已经是第二次交了. 第一次panel review的comments也都完全address
了,质量应该没问题.感觉死在意外原因了.

第二次递交, single PI。第一次scientific merits评价很好，但有两个问题：想做的
一个部分被认为我在那个方向上没什么经验，建议我砍之，另外觉得我outreach不够好
。第二次投的时候很严肃的采纳了这些建议，呵呵，其实都没做什么真正的修改，中了。
经验: 第一次被据以后，跟PM认真地电话聊过，但也不知道有多大帮助就是了。

最好多找一些高中生，最好有女生有黑人，要是有成果了都列上，学生去好大学了也提
一提。可以视频采访你的高中生，问他做科研和做高中作业有什么不同之类的问题，然
后截图放在proposal上，并提供youtube链接。这个视频可以用来吸引更多的高中生。
可以和高中老师约定，每年推荐好学生来科研。还可以通过各种学校已经有的outreach
来吸引高中生，可以提到你支持高中生用你的科研项目参加intel和西屋等等等等。。。
至于本科生，好像大家都有，很难写出特点。
