cranky colleagues' comments, demoralized by rejected manuscripts and grant

highly predictable)和overwhelming(unpredictable)之间有个pleasantly
surprising的sweet spot.
这个spot每个人都不同，总体人群的spot画在spectrum上大概是个高斯分布。越
sophisticated的听者越偏overwhelming一边（因为听过的多，surprise阈值高）。同
时同一个人也会因心情变化有个自己的小分布－－神经大条的时候偏左(boring)，心情
纠结的时候偏右(overwhelming)。
所谓知音就是两个小分布基本重叠。
所谓萍水相逢就是在某个时间某个地点一个小分布的+6sigma碰到另个小分布的-6sigma。
所谓博爱就是小分布sigma大，涵盖多个其他小分布。

就说这个高速收费吧，明明CHICAGO比土共还狠，可是五毛不看英语新闻，就不知道。
最近ILLINOIS这个收费的事争论的很厉害，IPASS最低收费从40C一下跳到75C，这个接
近100%涨价了。可是老百姓反对根本没戏。当然政府理由基本和土共一样的。但是
CHICAGO的几个着名小将是基本不开车不看/听英语新闻的，估计都是学校里的F1/J1，
所以这么好的素材都放过了。
75C还是IPASS最低收费，很多口DOUBLE都不只，最高是1.95刀。这是IPASS，CASH收费
是DOUBLE的。本来40C的口，CASH是80C。现在CASH最低是1.5刀了。
从我家去OHARE机场，来回50MILE，合80公里，要过355，88，294的6个收费口，新的收
费标准，涨价后收费就要5到8块，和3，50块人民币了，这还是IPASS。CASH收费是
DOUBLE。估计最高可能要100块RMB了。
所以天下乌鸦是一般黑的。老美以前还好，现在DEM控制的蓝州，比土共还狠啊。

我从去年六月懵懵懂懂地来到这个版上，问了JWE无数问题，现在他叫我做点关于HR3012的事情，我当然一口答应，何况这个项目将会帮助PD是2009下半年到2010年年初的EB2早日拿卡，帮助2010年下半年到2012的EB2早日递交I-485呢！
至于EB3,现在应该看到85%的数字太高，参院已经有人出手。有人估计最后能以75%过关，有人估计最后能以60%过关，有人估计更低。如果EB3有能人，可以算一个对EB3C利益最大化的数字，我们一起放在项目里。如果没有人算，我们就用老猪下面跟帖里面说的50%。这个数字将能够有效卡住EB3I，帮助EB3C排期大进。

presenting an ever more hardline stance against the movement. It was the
real threat of force that created the voice to withdraw. Would only threat
of force cause the students to actually withdrawn? No way. The longer the
soldiers remain blocked, the less afraid people have of the crackdown.
Eventually, threat will lose its effectiveness, and anyone calling for

I can't think of another industry in which there is so much ignorance around
costs. Nearly all financial fees are deducted from assets automatically,
