我最早知道《山海经》与美洲有关系一事，是在连云山所著《谁先到达美洲》一书中，
读到一则介绍：
美国学者墨兹博士研究了《山海经》，根据经上所说《东山经》在中国大海之东日
出之处，他在北美，试着进行按经考察，经过几次失败，他一英里一英里地依经上记过
的山系走向，河流所出和流向，山与山间的距离考察，结果胜利了。查验出美国中部和
西部的落基山脉，内华达山脉，喀斯喀特山脉，海岸山脉的太平洋沿岸，与《东山经》
记载的四条山系走向、山峰、河流走向、动植物、山与山的距离完全吻合……
