听密西根州的话，这是挂羊头卖狗肉的公立。另外大多数的公立，比如 SUNY ，就主要
靠州财政资助，乖乖地听州里的话，州里政客说，学费6000一年，就不敢涨。密西根，
伯克利早涨到天价了，even for in state。
Penn State 看样子是 somewhere in between the two extremes. |

如说气象，差不多全美数一 数二吧，State College 地理位置比较特别，是个谷，这
里的天气变化比较大，前一分钟还是阳光明媚，后一分钟就满天乌云，开始飘雪了呵呵
，尤其今年，出奇的冷。快两个月没有看到太阳了。AP的工资也分专业，通常是9个月
的工资8万左右。应该不算太低吧。 |

of Higher Education， 叫passhe, 另外一个是Pennsylvania's Commonwealth
System of Higher Education， 里面包括了penn state,如果你问前面那个，我知道，

duke：ap，像rising start，有丰富计算经验。好处是计算技能得到提升，能多
出文章。担心的是将来ap的推荐信不给力。
penn：正教授，chair，但是不懂太多计算的东西。
好处是老板算小有名气，干得好的话推荐信管用。坏处是计算全靠我自己，可能从技术
上没有太大提高。
求分析加入哪个组会比较好。 |

。还是那句，不要太高估关系的作用，除非你老板真是超级大牛，像普通牛真不容易做
到想把学生推哪就能去哪。靠谁都不如靠自己的本事，别的是锦上添花。而且从career
发展的角度，博士后让自己技术层面提高会让你将来走得更轻松。而且duke和penn差不
多，一个层次的。 |

理教授合作，给他的学生派活，从现在就开始以教授的架势锻炼自己。而Duke的助理教
授可能会控制你让你成为他的paper machine，你的主动性会少很多。 |

1 pound pasta(I'm using penne here,normally people use fettuccine)
4 boneless skinless chicken thigh pounded thin(or breast)
1 cup heavy cream(oh yeah 1 cup)
4 tbsp butter
1/2 cup parmigiano reggiano
salt and pepper to taste
[做法]
热锅，加热butter，下鸡腿，煎熟，拿出来，切块。同时可以煮意面。
不换锅，下cream，下parmigiano reggiano，煮开，这时候意面差不多也煮好了，
strain，关火。把意面和鸡块都倒进锅里，搅匀。add salt and pepper。上桌。
[心得]
我这个已经是butter减半cream减半cheese减半的alfredo了，不过依然非常好吃。图片
上的是我的portion，我大概吃了2/3，剩下的都塞给某人了。某人吃了我的三倍那么多

PennState: RA，华裔full professor, 手下funding很多.
NCSU: TA,可能会跟老印Full professor.
Notre Dame: TA, 可能会跟老美Assoc. professor.
个人比较希望毕业后能当进学术界，但是这几个program好像reputation都不太够。
PennState的IST(Information Sci and Tech)成立时间太短,刚毕业的一两批学生主要
进工业界，不知道拿着IST的学位找CS的教职怎么样。
NCSU那个老师在研究上倒是很活跃，不过他跟我狂夸的一个他很自豪的学生都postdoc4
年多了还没找到教职。不过他的学生们到大公司intern好像都没啥问题。
ND那个教授搞的东西在CS里也属于非主流的少数派，靠跟他RA的东西肯 |

Try Penn State CSSA and say you will pay some money,at least $50.

take. His family is going to pay for all his expense. No financial aid is
available.
It seems that the tuition and overall expense are similar.
Both are non-thesis based program, running from one year to two years.
I did some research online and could not tell him which is better.
if he pursues the PhD later, Penn State sounds better. If he likes to get a
job after graduation, UDel is good. Am I right?
