之前面试问了个performance相关的问题没回答好。题目是如果server收到很多request
来不及处理,用什么方法来提高performance?
我能想到就是建一个queue然后把request都放到queue里,就是asynchronous那种。或
者建个cache,把查询过的或者查询频率最高的存在cache里(如果满了就把频率最低的
从cache里删除)。我想请教下还有其他什么方法吗?或者这类题目要怎么思考?我觉
得我没有回答到点上,不是面试官想要的。不知道应该从什么角度考虑这个问题呢?请
大家指点一下,非常感谢啊

What you meant "counters"? The Operating System's turning parameters?
For performance Testing, the important knowledge are:
1. Design the usage scenarios so that you can simulate the real usage for
system load to measure the response time, generate the report, and, find the
bottleneck.
2. Familiar with various performance testing tools (do some google you can
find the info).

公司今年开始采用一种新的业绩评价体系,叫做Maximizing Performance,是一家叫
DDI(Development Dimensions International)搞的企业员工业绩管理和评价的系统
,网上查了一下国内大概叫“绩效管理”。公司给做了一天的讲座就让我们每个人开始
实施了。由于公司第一次实施,俺以前也没有任何相关经验,不知道这个东西的厉害之
处在什么地方,有些什么陷阱,怎么有效的尽可能的避开这些陷阱。希望能够跟过来人
请教一下。
Maximizing Performance 具体做法在年度开始前每个员工要根据supervisor的要求和
计划给自己订下每个年度的计划,包括一系列Key Results Areas和对应的非常具体(
SMART-specific,measurable,attainable,relevant, Time-bounded)的目标(
objectives),和用以达到每个目标的“能力”(Competencies).和老板协商好后老板
(Supervisor)要签字批准该计划。年度开始后主要任务就是全力实现自己和老板订好
的计划里面的目标

自然要把自己往上吹。但这个exceptional有点太狠了,觉得自己没达到,
是不是老老实实选high contributor就是了。
Exceptional:exceptional performance marked with creative, innovative results,

都是有讲个数目字的,又讲合理理由的。
你要从你老板的角度来看。
假如你讲,我就知道你的理想在多少。我就比较有把握去争取那个数字或close to it.
你不讲,我最怕就是跟我老板提出在我们本来商量好的再给你加更多,可是最后你还是
不满意。除非你performance很好,要不我可能懒得给我自己找麻烦,直接跟你讲个理

economy is out there. Our company didn't do that well this year, the most
common adjustment this year is no adjustment. Of course, I feel you did a

柿子捡软的捏,先照顾好那些review差了可能给他找麻烦的人,知道中国人
不会fight,能忍,自然差的review就留给你啦。。
你应该问问公司policy是什么样的,很多公司你如果据签performance review的话,HR
会来调查,一般老板会如坐针毡的。。。
还有review 前几个月就问老板:你觉得我performance
如何啊,如果你觉得只能打6分,俺觉得应该打8分,那俺应该咋improve啊?最好用
email 成文,以后好秋后算帐。
中国人太老实了,西方人尊重为自己利益fight的人,不要指望别人会替你fight,
难怪西方人下意识的就认为亚裔就是干脏活累活的。

半年前换了老板,新老板对我还是不错的,也一直是骨干。新老板也是一直在这个公司
的, 和原来的老板位置对调了。新老板比较Micro-managerment, 管了更多人,原来的
管的少了好多(12-->1)。
这个星期 Performance Review,这个星期 Performance Review,评分是还可以,奇怪
的是,表上的 Title 比原来的降了一级变成了 Sr. engineer。 之前的Title 是
Principal Engineer,是去年原来老板手上升的,公司的Org Chart上也还是
Principal, 而且1月份因为要帮父母办签证,要了一份 Employment Letter,写的也是
Principal Engineer。 但是问了老板,他说看来有一点"Gap",说要跟HR了解一下。
这个title 变化不会影响工资, 但是心里感觉不爽,应该在月底还有 Merit increase
- 没问到底是多少,应该是~3%左右。
大家给分析下,到底怎么回事? 要不要问问老板 和 HR怎么回事,叫他们改正?

已经拿到offer了,正在进行背景调查(背调公司叫backcheck)
我的第一份工作只干了6个月,后来被terminated due to poor performance.(小公司
被收购,新老板来第一件事就是开人。。。)
给我的termination letter上只写了terminated due to poor performance,但是
Record of employment上面的原因是dismissal。
现在背调公司让我写的这一段经历,我也如实写了,原因写的是termination
我之后还换过两个工作,都不错,没有不好的记录。
问题是:如果打电话给第一个小公司,HR说我不能rehire,会不会影响我这份offer啊?

OK 离开的定局了。但不要慌。要离开也尽量用完公司给的最后一滴水!!
比如公司给你 60天的progress。 那你不用去补救什么了,不管你如何的努力
他们也不会让你过的。所以这60天内,你要假努力!
这就是在这60天表面上你很努力(让他们有个‘错觉’以为你要做最大的努力来补救),
其实你是在安排后路。 这‘错觉’能保你多两个月的薪水!有多两个月的薪水都好过
你马上辞职啊!
你辞职那一天就是你递上Performance Report 的那一天。(就是第59天或60天)
这样子你又多保 两个星期的薪水了。就是 60 天加 + 14 天(辞职两个星期通知)
记住,要离开也尽量用完公司给的最后一滴水!!
PS: 我以前就是用这方法。Performance Report递上(所有指标不去达到)再递上辞
职信。把公司给我的最后福利榨的干干净净!

你搞错了
怀孕期间不能以performance为理由fire孕妇的,这个是底线。否则所谓保护孕妇岂不
是一句屁话。公司只能layoff一个孕妇,就是这个职位不存在了,才能让这个孕妇走人
。你说起来这个是个startup,更不可能layoff人(否则它很长一段时间不能招人),
而且就算layoff基本上必须是有人陪绑(就是同时让很多人一起走入,但是也很容易被
告倒)。
你去咨询一下律师,PIP然后fire一个孕妇,简直开玩笑。特别是你在加入这个公司的
时候已经怀孕,所谓他们绝对不能解雇你的。
如果对家里来说,你这点钱无所谓,那么回家换个好心情也行,但是在未来一年里面,
你是进了保险箱的,公司不可能因为performance原因你,否则你就发财了(公司现在
就是push你自己辞职,fire你万万不可能的)。公司现在PIP的可能性就是要么希望
piss off你让你自己辞职,或者为将来(肯定不是2个月后,应该是你小孩快一周岁的
时候)fire你做准备。
如果这个钱还有点用,有3个选择:
1,告诉你老板,你有严重的怀孕反应,要求降低工作量。这个是合法的。

公司年初的performance review,也是我的第2个review。表上顶头粗体大字写了
Manager Review 4 (总共5分)。而且跟老板聊天的时候,尽被表扬了。心理觉得被老
板认可了。
半年后的今天,在我们公司另外一个portal上查了查我往年的review,结果一个3,而
不是4。回去翻看之前的review。form表底小子而且没有粗体,写了个overall
performance 3。原来公司是用这个分数而不是表顶的分数。
我是不是太傻啊?被别人一表扬就忘我了。。

今天和HR进行Performance Review的feedback, HR转述了老板的评价
先是说我中午吃饭太晚导致提前50分钟临时安排的中午meeting没去,我想了半天总算
想起来,那次真的是很偶然吃饭拖长了,一年也就那一次。
还说有时问我负责的project的问题,我了解的不细致,有些真的是好久之前做的一时
也记不清了,而且绝大多数时候都能回答的很好。
还说我有一些其他问题,都是很偶然出现一次的问题。
总之就是我已经干了几年,水平应该提升到更高才对。
最后的打分老板说要推迟两个礼拜再打分。
老板说的这些毛病,真的是偶然出现一次,前任老板根本不care,可是现任老板却要咬
住不放
平时和老板关系还算不错,交流也算畅快,这次performance review本来以为会给不错
评价的,没想到做出的成绩都被无视,反而以水平提升未达预期为理由给差评,具体事
例也都是偶然事件
现在该怎么去沟通呢?

不同的公司有不同的职能划分
不管是developer还是performance,提高自己的能力最重要
developer的缺点是太注重细节功能,没有系统观
performance太系统,容易被架空

Quasthoff's Mahler. Hotel is not cheap, neither are the tickets. (Since he
