十一月在amazon买了两个Kindle fire一代，前两天联系说是Christmas gift, 一个
will not charge or power up,要退。我的是BB买的refurbished，觉得坏也是有可能
的。于是authorize return。
昨天收到return，发现屏幕和背后有一些细小的划痕，BB的refurbished都是
一点毛病没有的。而且BB的充电器上没有amazon的logo，这个退回来的是amazon的。以
为真的是砖头了，刚才试了一下发现能开机，kindle的名字是Chad's 6th kindle,传文
件的e-mail是c********[email protected]，应该是Chad French的缩写. 接上变压器能用，
拔掉就黑屏了。应该是电池dead了。
各位大神能给个建议怎么对付这个evil吗？以为100刀的东西evil看不上的，没有记录

发帖数: 405 | 46 签了offer，算是对自己接受20几年教育和5年phd学习的一个了断。找工作前前后后半
年多，有一些经验和教训，愿意和大家分享。我的专业在商学院，没有publication，
也没有R&R，学校是tier 2，老板还挺牛的，而且也很push和supportive，就是人太直
，应该是得罪了profession里不少人。随便写写经验和教训，也许有用，也许没用，各
取所需把。
经验：
1． 自己的research要说得过去，最好用solo-authored paper做job market paper.
越好的学校越care这点。
2． 一定要找个和我们非常close的老板。他/她应该愿意全力推荐你，甚至fight for
you。
3． 做一个personable and pleasant candidate。其实学校是在找colleagues，谁愿
意和一个jerk做同事呢？所以在面试和on site的时候要永远保持微笑，永远不说
negative things about others, 永远不gossip about others，时刻保持着对他人的
尊敬。就算他/她在学术上多么的 |

很--罗--嗦！
Interview 1: 学校T
这个学校有phd program，所以我把它当作是research school。当时面试机会来得很快
，让我措手不及。走之前一天才做好slides，准备也不够充分，更要命的是，这是我这
一辈子第一个面试，所以彻底的惶恐紧张……
面试那天的安排真是让我觉得--情何以堪，情何以堪啊！回到hotel的时候是绝绝对对的
身心俱损，因为这一天我从早上7:15开始到晚饭为止，马不停蹄地见了17个老师，本科
生和研究生代表，外加dean，每个meeting20分钟，中间还穿插着跟系主任的N次重复面
谈。我面试前一天一晚上基本上没怎么睡着，心想我以前也熬过通宵，一个晚上不睡应
该没啥大问题，结果事实打了我一个响亮的耳光……
上午的面试我感觉很不错，我惴惴不安地坐在会议室里等老师进来，结果进来的几个老
师都非常友好，让我大为意外。他们基本上一直在跟我说funding,funding,fuding，告

offer 1: higher rank, poor small town, very hard to find a job for spouse.
you really don't like this place even though the university is nice.
Offer 2: lower rank, big city, more job opportunities for spouse. This place
looks more pleasant to you.
