什么样的career path， 先和家人沟通好。我想你说的一辈子post doc，并不是真的永
远是post-doc，应该说是title会变成更适合senior researcher 的，比方说research
scientist，对吗？我们系颇有些这样的。我觉得他们挺happy的。关键是你enjoy你做
的事情。我觉得面子是给别人的，如果自己能看开这个，那就最好了。当教授也有教授
的烦恼和操心，到时候说不定你老婆又开始抱怨你没时间顾家和照顾小孩了。
我倒觉得工作稳定性很重要。就是说如果你喜欢现在的生活方式，而且能保证这样的状
态（position)不是暂时的，其实挺不错的。 |

’饭碗，但是job security还是有的吧。我身边就有好几个，一直在一个牛人的team里
，只是年纪大了后不叫post-doc，改称research scientist了。其中一个最近刚刚退休
（年纪到了，不是被迫的），最近卖了房子，已经欢欢喜喜去女儿的城市去养老去了。
我要有能干的post-doc，除了tenure-track faculty我不能给他／她，我一定会创造机
会挽留的，让她／他高高兴兴在我们组工作的。 |

，我以为两个月写应该来得及， 老板说时间非常非常紧，他现在不给我开证明信就是
怕到时候我要是毕不了业，又申了post-completion opt 又不能工作又浪费OPT的时间。
但是我现在要是不申OPT 等到四月份再申 就已经太晚了呀...我怕到时候又来不及去实
习了。
请问高人要是我现在申了post-completion OPT 要是五月份实在没毕得了业，而那个时
候又拿到EAD卡了，会有什么后果呢？

续工作。可是申请post-opt需要花1-2个月的时间，必须提前申请。那么在6月份去工作

学校的国际学生处最近新换了一个负责人，第一次打电话过去让我等邮件回复，第二次
干脆就给前台说不接我电话让我等回复，这等着等着一个多礼拜已经过去了，又不能把
那个人催的惹怒了，只能来板上求助
我PhD已经完成了所有课程，只剩答辩，现在拿到公司的offer让我立刻去工作，板上考
古的结果是我符合申请post-OPT，于是我跟学校说我想申请这个，负责人说你也只符合
这一种，我就奇怪了，明明pre-Opt也是可以的呀，只要我愿意注册学分？板上说顶多
麻烦一点，毕业了再申请一次post-OPT。
于是我提交了申请，负责人过了很多天，发个邮件来问，说，你到底是几月份答辩（因
为我之前跟他邮件里说我应该可以11月答辩），答辩的日期现在还没有非常确定，因为
需要联系答辩老师这些，虽然预计是11月就可以，但是我填了12月为了保险，负责人就
说，如果你想11月答辩，就必须把毕业日期改成11月，这样才可以很快办OPT，我不明
白，11月和12月有区别么？

post-OPT 必须在completion of degree以后,这个日期各个学校规定可能不同，我们这
这个date是在你提交论文initial draft到研究生院这天算起。这个日期跟defense
date和graduate date以及degree date不一样。
defense date答辩日期
graduate date毕业典礼的日期
degree date拿到证书的日期
你可以问一下你们研究生院和国际学生办公室。你现在就要毕业了，可惜申请不了CPT
，否则可以用CPT马上上班，然后准备毕业同时申请post-OPT。这样下来时间安排的好

卡到手以后发现是post-completion的，
但是目前看来defence最早是暑假期间，degree的时间只可能是10月。
明天去见international advisor，
先来这里摸摸底。
这种情况，没有在post-opt生效后的几个月内毕业，有没有什么问题啊？

roof jack做临时支撑，换点坏掉的post。问题是，是需要换整根呢还是拒掉底座，用

首先说一下C1的，因为credit line比较低，所以基本每次刷完卡我很快就还钱，但是
每次即使我checking account里面的钱被扣了，银行也post了，依然不能用成
available credit for purchase.也就麻烦的我每次交完钱都要给银行打电话。
后来有了citi的，信用额度高了很多，一个月交一次也就行了。结果悲剧的是，citi也
有和c1类似的问题，钱posted出来了但是citi给我on hold了，我又给他们打了2次电话
，他们说需要和银行verify结果每次都搞一个三方会议似的。。一次电话将近半个小时。
这种情况普遍么？我觉得正常就应该我的钱post出来了第二天就能花的吧？还是因为我
用BOA还款的问题？谢谢 |

正常情況下一般信用卡都是 transaction date 兩天後 post，有的卡是三天。但這也
取決於商家。
我記得曾經有過多次，消費的第二天，transaction 就 post 出來了。

请问这个三个月是从申请被批那天开始算的吗？我记得我是10/2申请的，当时没结果，

现在担心如果明天刷卡的话不一定当天post出来，所以担心不被算进前3个月。
刚刚发现昨天晚上用chase freedom买的amazon gift card今天就post了。所以这个办
法行。只是担心business card 会比一般card 晚post

自动免掉。

很诚心的想知道一下cs做post-doc的利与弊。欢迎大家讨论，尤其是过来人：）
嗯，前提条件是，能去top 5 univ.或者好的industry lab，否则，我也觉得没意思。
先说说好处吧：
1。可以认识牛人，和他们合作，建立一个好的network
2。有更大的机会往最top conf.发paper
3。有了1和2，为将来eb1打下基础
4。体验一下名校research的氛围
5。给自己多一点时间考虑和准备未来的career（这个呆在目前的学校也可以做，不过
在一个地方呆太久，想换一个地方）
不利的因素有：
1。浪费时间1-2年（因为我是bs直接读phd的，个人觉得没关系）
2。薪水少，尤其是看到朋友们大把大把赚美刀（这个。。。我忍）
3。将来找工作可能会被问“为啥你都post-doc了，要决定来做xxx”这个难回答的问题
（我没有determined要做faculty）
基于个人爱好，实在不喜欢coding的工作。学校和目前的publication都只能说good，
而不是impressi |
