Convert PS to EPS (encapsulated postscript) and Powerpoint would be able to
recognize it, or use WMF format. In principle, any vector-format image files
would be better than bitmap image files.

BTW, just remembered that Minion is Adobe Postscript font, not TrueType, so
even somebody sends you a copy, you won't be able to use it without Adobe
Type Manager. There is also Minion Web font, which can be downloaded for free
on the net, but I doubt that's what you want.

Adobe's own recommendation: if all you want is to create a PS file, not
printing it, then Apple LaserWriter NT II driver is the best choice.
Probably the most PS standard compatible. You can download from adobe's
website.

Here is the simple way.
In Windows, print the doc to file using a postscript printer
driver. HP Color LaserJet 5/5M is good, for example. Then
modify the extension of the printed file name to .ps. Upload
to a linux machine, use ps2pdf to convert it into .pdf. Or open
the .ps file in Aladdin Ghostview and you can convert ps to pdf
using File->Convert, choose pdfwrite in "Device:". |

品，你是大牛阿，写什么论文，还要有些特殊格式的图片，出现打印不好也是常见现象
，这一点latex也未必一点问题没有，更不是传说的bug free的
恩，看起来你觉得用Latex是个很NB的事情阿，就是和大多数人不一样，超凡脱俗，呵
呵，不过听说人nature不收latex的呢（Manuscript files in PDF, Word,
WordPerfect, EPS, PostScript, RTF format），具体问题要具体分析，我和你不是一
个专业的，所以请不要一概而论，有的杂志你投pdf人家还嫌麻烦呢

I am using gnuplot to output figures. A question is here:
I can use 'set terminal' to select output format,
there are quite a number of them, which is the most
convenient? I am now using postscript and then use PSreader
to convert it to eps, very boring.
Another problem is how to set the scale of figure? I have
output two figures so far, the first one is pretty ok. but
in the second one the y-axis becomes longer than the x-axis
and the figure looks verticall |

I usually use something like
set terminal postscript eps enhanced color "Times-Roman" 20
set output "file.eps"
This will result in an EPS file that uses the PS Times-Roman font
at 10 pt as the default font; when the "eps" option is specified,
the specified pt size (20) is divided by 2 to give the actual pt size.
Try one or more of these commands (say "help set ..." to see the
full syntax): set xrange, set yrange, set size, set xtics, set ytics,
set mxtics, set mytics |

I got a problem at the last step.
I followed the way as you said, but using adobe PS printer
instead of yours. Everything is ok to generate PS document
containing the clipped figure. But when use gsview to
output pdf file, it always says:
This PostScript file was created from an encrypted PDF file.
Redistilling encrypted PDF is not permitted.
Unrecoverable error: undefined in get

设置输出选项为EPS。但是保存文件的时候存成.ps文件。
2. .ps -> .eps：用GSView打开.ps文件，菜单File->PS to EPS，
存成.eps文件。其实就是让GSView自动计算bounding box。
这是我知道的最通用，最优化的办法，优点：
1）无失真，生成的dvi，ps， pdf文件放大多少倍都没问题
2）图片很紧凑
3）生成的.eps文件很小
4）适用于任何图片编辑器，包括powerpoint, word, etc. |

or use other software to generate your diagram into postscript format
then include it like FeyArts (a mathematica package) or MadGraph,.....
Go to google axodraw and put the axodraw.sty file in the same directory as
your tex source file.

However, after I compile my .tex file and tried to review .dvi, a message
poped out, saying
"the document can not be rendered properly because the current render
method does not support PostScript specials. Temporarily switch to the Dvips
render method?''
If I choose no, then all my figures (.eps) can not be shown. If I choose yes
, then it crashed.
How can I do for this problem? Any information is appreciated. |

说“The document cannot be rendered properly because the current render
method does not support postscript specials.”然后问要不要转到别的render
method，不管选yes还是no结果都是应该显示图片的地方留出空白，根本看不到图片。
我在另一台机子上装有老版本的TeX，图片却显示正常，哪位大侠给指点指点，谢谢。 |

do not include Greek text font, only Greek math font. Hence all the
lowercase greek letters are slanted. The CM math font includes both
upright and slanted uppercase Greek letters, but the spacing around the
characters are not set for text use, only for math use.
You will need to load another font to get upright lowercase Greek.
The Postscript Symbol font is one option, but it looks ugly. |

。在windows下面用yap看生成的dvi文件，显示到这种图的时候，yap会弹出一个问题：

选yes以后，就可以显示这些图片了。但是在linux下面用texlive2007编译，再用xdvi
看，这些图就不能显示，只有一片空白。那些用matlab直接打印的eps图片都可以显示
。而且我在xdvi的选项已经选了"显示ps和bounding"。
请问各位高手，在xdvi里面怎么能显示这些图片？或者有什么其他的dvi viewer for
linux? 多谢！ |

such a problem before. what i did is to use ps2epsi/ps2pdf etc to convert
the file among several formats. ususallyy, the output will eventually
be normal after several steps, but you might loss some precision during
the process.

Postscript
font, which isn't freely available.
Either ask the publisher for the font, or ask them how to disable loading of
the proprietary font, or look for something like \usepackage{mathtime} in
your files or the publisher's .cls/.sty files and disable loading of the
Math Time font set. You can try \usepackage{mathptmx} as an alternative,
but you won't get bold fonts for some of the math symbols.
