我这边，其实老板娘也是牛人，当年一样拿到offer，不过为了顾家就做tech了。
很多实验技术一流，而且只管实验和帮写grant，其他不管，也从来不盯梢。所以
和大家关系很好。
ld那里其实是夫妻两各自开分店，共用实验室和仪器试剂，不过理论上是两个
实验室。女的没有换姓，所以不熟悉的都不知道是夫妻老婆店。两个人非常profes
sional，连办公室都是分开的。
我们Lab是典型的夫妻店模式，老板找钱老板娘管钱。老板娘负责order, 对每个人的要
求都会过问的比较细致，你为什么要order这个？我们还有么？为什么不先用现有的？
为什么要order新的？我们是小lab人不多，性格都是非常温和的主儿，所以大家想买东
西的时候，都会先把上述问题捋一遍然后再下单子。
有时候老板娘忙家里的事儿，比如家里的空调坏了，家里的狗牙疼，家里的宝贝儿该买
头花儿了，家里的厨房要翻新了，等等。经常是写在order board上的东西，你在这里
等米下锅，她那里不是找不到人，就是忙的没时间，很多急用的东西过了半个月一个月

我就不明白了，为什么这种芝麻绿豆的小事也拿出来说事，记得颜宁也曾经因为英文翻
译翻得不好，被方先生拿出来批评，太无聊了，典型的没事找事吸引人眼球的网络名人
的宣传手段，跟芙蓉风姐没啥区别。 |

开复 89 年的文章还说明自己是 RCS 呢，又怎解释？其实废话那么多干嘛，让 CMU 人
力资源部出张证明就是了，怎么去找导师？而且导师说得是可以聘为 AP，而不是确实
被聘为 AP,呵呵。

Math for America确实是全奖的 我申请的fellowship会负责 去哥大Teachers College
， NYU 或者bard的 master的学费， 然后出来要工作4年 给一些经济上的支持和profe
ssional的支持
正如你所说 所以竞争相对很激烈，如果直接申请哥大的TC， NYU的master 就容易了很
多了。
这个program 设计师先完成学位 拿到teaching certificate， 你说的那种暑假培训一
下 然后就去教书的应该是 NYC Teaching Fellow的program！

I used to think it like this too.
But later when I talked with some so called famous professors, I felt that
they felt those "industry money" cannot prove themselves and they would
prefer to be a little poor than getting money from some assocation/industry.
One young professor once said something like your professor could easily get
money from industry but he did not want to......
It seems that some "good" universities prefer some fundermental research.

qun is not necessarily always a mediocre professor, if he is prepared, one day
he may have his chance of becoming famous:) And he has said it is OK for him

把平卷舌彻底给教糊涂了。在这个BBS写的最长的中文帖子，还是最近在宝宝版写的“宝
宝出生记”---有动力啊:)
这首飘来飘去的罗大佑的歌有一次几乎让我在高速上睡着:(
老兄你还挺游刃有余的。我的一个对我很帮忙的工作了三年的师兄，为了那1950的billab
le hours,每天工作12个小时，他老婆也和他一样在另一firm工作，想来他这种情况不会
有时间来BBS。所以我猜你要么工作体系不一样，要么还是赤条条来去无牵挂:)
资本主义制度那么完善，来美国又晚，还只有学习的经验，想致富不容易啊。想想以前实
验室里的一个老technician说的：If you invent something, you will get rich. 发明
创造而致富的观念真是深入人心啊。这回interview的时候recruiter还问为什么不stay
in science and invent something,只好尽量不卑不亢的应付了过去。
做什么都不是那么容易的，尽管看起来好象很容易。

自从拿到录取通知书以后，我一直想写一个申请总结。我没有动笔的原因，除了懒以外，
是我觉得对于申请MPP的同学来说，最重要的并不是申请细节，而是MPP录取的标准和申请
MPP的理由。而对于后两点，我拿到录取之时根本就是一窍不通，因此不敢误人子弟（鉴
于我以前已经误过不少…）。现在到芝大混迹了1个多月，跟Admission Dean，跟
Profes
sor，跟alumni，跟学长，跟同学都有所交流；我将尽可能依赖第一手资料来进行总结，
希望对大家有所帮助。
当然，我访谈的样本量并不大，在代表性上也有很大问题（比如我至今未找到读了MPP并
且在美国工作的中国人）；同时，本文许多观点纯属个人臆断和个人经验（N=1），正确
性和普适性都是有问题的。因此大家在参考这篇文章时， |
