发帖数: 7450 | 6 阿，看到这个标题，想起了最近看的一本tinkers, 2010年Pulitzer小说。NYT book
review在颁奖前完全漏掉了该书。书很短，诗意很强，感觉却很紧致。写了很多19世纪
，20世纪出new england乡下的事情，有很多贫瘠萧索的生活描写，但处处流露出自然
与荒芜中的生命之美。
但是有一点不能忍受，就是书中有大量括号。以前自己也有这个习惯，但是现在发现这
个是多么的影响读者思维的连贯性!

了做这个砖头，为后面的牛人们打个前站，也让这个活动由俗及雅，由易而难。我下面
就随便聊几句这一期的“俗”和“易”。
我取了个很三俗的题目“几本有关男男女女的书”。刘瑜的《孤独的像个星球》和《那
么，爱呢》，都是讲男女留学生的情感故事，《一九九四年》讲的是中关村一个女学生
的恋爱故事。另一本非虚构类的书，Mara Hvistendahl的“Unnatural selection”讲
的则是生男生女和男女人口比例失衡的问题。几本书是在讨论活动时提及选定的，很有
偶然性。但是主题都很通俗，内容也都很易懂。
文学作品都有一定的时代人文背景。读巴尔扎克的《驴皮记》需要了解十九世纪初的巴
黎，读陈忠实的《白鹿原》需要了解十九至二十世纪的中国。而读刘瑜写的故事没那么
多事儿，因为她讲的就是我们这个群体的当代故事。里面的人物都似曾相见，故事都如
有耳闻，掌故都耳熟能详。这个群体，中国人认为你在美国，美国人认为你来自中国。
他们都没错，就是都不把你当自己人。与中国人隔着太平洋，与美国人隔着一道墙。这

拉丁拼音字母在表达描述上的优劣效果产生好奇。但很快我就对自己陷入这类争论不休
的无稽之谈深恶痛绝！无论是哪种语言和方式，凡是能触摸震撼大众心灵的不就是精美
益善之良言吗？！道理其实和我们朗朗上口的真理名言“不管黑猫白猫只要是能抓老鼠
的便是好猫”异曲同工。于是马上给胡思乱想划上休止符，决定以分享取代迂腐无聊的
说教。
拣最近的开头：上周末进入圣殿主日礼拜时，照例先瞄周报首页，加拉太书5章第22节
经文赫然映入眼帘：“圣灵所结的果子，就是仁爱，喜乐，和平，忍耐，恩慈，良善，
信实。” 我相信大多数稍有圣经知识的基督徒对此已耳熟能详，将它立为修身养性的
座右铭。数了数共有7个果子，大概是针对七大原罪，难怪西方奉7为吉利而不是东方的
8？接着臆想假设鄙人是今日的讲员，我该如何布这篇道？题目显然太大，既不能笼统
肤浅，蜻蜓点水，又不可一一道来，没完没了。灵机一动投机取巧，岂不将7个果子分
七次讲，既省心又贴切，何乐不为？事实不久宣告，本人还是先乖乖进神学院沾几滴圣

graduate ,作为New Yorker 常驻中国的记者2005-2013 在中国做了8年的采访。书中
有作者本人对国内多个有影响人物的多次采访， 包括林毅夫、胡舒立、Han han, Love

Harper Lee, the reclusive author of To Kill A Mockingbird, has died at the
age of 89.
The news was confirmed by the mayor's office in her hometown of Monroeville,
Alabama.
The novelist was born Nelle Harper Lee on 28 April 1926.
In 1960, she published To Kill A Mockingbird, which was a huge critical and
commercial success and won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction. The sequel Go Set
a Watchman, was only published in 2015.

不知道外国人如何评判，按中国人的标准，我觉得：
意境上：赋比兴，层层递进，回味无穷
文字上：凝练，考究（但不矫情），对仗，韵律（读起来押韵上口但不油腻牵强）
上周公布普里兹大奖最佳诗歌，那作者说的对诗歌的理解倒是不错：

兄妹相爱那段的描写还是挺难以接受的，尽管作者作了很多铺垫。
小说的后面作者就要描写自己怎么变成变形人了（作者以第一人称写的），可见作家已
经给变形人作了定义：那些是基因出了毛病的人。
难道现代的小说一定要以weird thing作噱头才能吸引读者？ |

我这个人好糊涂啊，长期以来把塞金花与赛珍珠这两人混为一谈。因为对这俩个人都无
所谓，所以她们是一个人也好，两个人也好，都无所谓。这两个人除了名字开头都有个
赛字，都是女人，还都是名女人外，其它地方没什么共同点啊。今天听了老会长在纽约
电视台的访谈，觉得要好好地打一下自己的屁股哈，不能再无所谓了。
