), Peidong Yang (nanowire photonics)。 如果Zhang 获奖的话,清华和复旦一定要
乐死了。(他是复旦校友,也是清华的兼职教授,Quantum Hall effect的实验有一个
是在清华做的)。
另外还有香港的Ching W. Tang (OLED)。
我的感觉是OLED 的得奖概率最高。Quantum Hall effect有一定可能性,但未必会是今
年就拿。
nanowire photonics很牛比,相当与是开启了一个应用物理的新门路。但是现在还有点
早,因为工业应用的例子还很少。按照炸药奖对于应用物理的习惯一般会等几年等大家
都用开来了才给,不太可能现在就给。而且这个项目里居然只列了Peidong Yang一个人
的名字而没有其他大牛作陪,所以我的感觉是很难会给他(如果真的给了话科大要乐死
了)。但是过上10年,或者在10年内吧,这个项目很有希望。 |

长变化,excitation spectrum和absorbance spectrum就不可能一样了。举个例子,你
把fluorescein和rhodamine B混起来。488 nm左右的时候主要激发fluorescien,
quantum yield是0.4左右。560nm左右的时候主要激发rhodamine B, quantum yield 是
0.9左右。中间怎么过渡的和两种物质的混合比,本身的absorbance谱都相关,多半不
是线性的。这时候excitation和absorbance就不是线性相关的了。遇到这种样品,如果
你提前知道混合的成份性质,当然很好分析。如果你不知道各个成份的纯态性质,所谓
“a lot of information”其实是瞎子摸象,能摸出不少推论。 |

我有个问题。就是gas phase nucleation.我们都知道pure water在0度以下,-40度
以上是不会结冰的。这是因为要形成冰核,必需翻越一个能垒。这个能垒联接了过冷水
(metastable state)和冰(stable state).同样也有过热蒸汽。当一个gas phase
species的浓度大于它的饱和蒸汽压的时候,它也不会形成droplet。所以nucleation(
形成droplet的过程),也是有个能垒。这个能垒和nucleation 速率有关,就是物理化学
(化学物理)里面的transition state theory.这个nucleation rate很早就已经有人

quantum是微小的量.
而quantum of solace更应该是 微量的慰藉 的意思吧?
这部电影讲了两个报仇的故事,女主角手刃仇人,实现了多年的愿望,
得到了精神上的慰藉, 男主角没有手刃仇人,最后仇人还活着,但是他却也
感觉到没有遗憾了, 所以他也得到了慰藉.
电影的名字就是在讲这两个人通过不同的行为,都得到了solace, 但是
quantum(慰藉的那个微小的量)是不同的. 女主角失去了今后生活的目标,而男主角却
放下了心中的枷锁,可以重新开始轻松的生活了. |

看一遍吧。
突然觉得,物理学的悲哀不在于诺奖没有颁给最first principle的研究,而在于很多
做物理的人,在这个本来就已经比较小的领域里(相对生化医学工程而言),对同行却
如此狭隘和排斥。
我不是做graphene的,属于半懂不懂的那一类,不过周围有人预测到了这个奖。
我的感觉上是发得稍微早了点,等应用前景进一步明朗可以更convincing一点,甚至可
以考虑和Topological insulator一起发。但仔细想来,graphene即使在现在还是可以
make a strong case的。从fundamental的角度来讲,
1)人类历史上第一次发现真正严格意义上的稳定的two-dimensional material;
2)Graphene独特的电子性质提供了一个massless fermion system及其引起的各种新现
象(如unusual quantum hall effect和Klein tunneling),而且这是一个奇异的在凝

我买了,读了一点,决定不读了,原因很简单,就是这本书没有特色。
我只说几本经典量子力学教科书(或非教科书):
1. Landau, 内容丰富,特别是大量有物理见解的讨论和有特色的问题。书前面对量子
测量的讨论在当年是很少见的,目前还是最好的。
2. Davydov, Quantum Mechanics, 非常系统,内容很 solid, 对很多问题有
讨论诸如分子物理的应用,二次量子化的入门 等等。本书对学习量子
场论打下了坚实的基础。
3. Bohm, Quantum Theory, 很老也很过时了,但优点是强调基本概念。
4. Gottfried, Quantum Mechanics, 基本概念深入,很多物理问题作了深入的
讨论。首次系统引入Schwinger 的测量代数。
很多更新的教材诸如 Cohen-Tannoudji, Sakurai, Shenkar 都是流行
的教材,用那个都可以。dirac 和 逢挪已满不用说了,那是填补空白。

张首晟将这一新发现的手性马约拉那费米子命名为“天使粒子”,这个名字来源于丹·
布朗的小说及其电影《天使与魔鬼》。
这个“天使粒子”其实物理上叫做Majorana Fermion。Fermion就是自旋是半整数的粒
子,所有物质的构成成分都是Fermion,例如质子、中子和电子。但是在写出它的相对
性(Schrodinger方程式是非相对性的;半整数自旋是四维时空的特殊解,只有在完全
尊重Lorentz Transformation的理论下,也就是相对性理论下,才能写得出来)量子方
程式的时候,理论学家发现,除了一般“正常”的质量项(叫做Dirac Mass,这些
Fermion叫做Dirac Fermion,对应着有既有Fermion也有Anti-Fermion的现实,例如电

我要敢看感慨的是,eva green真是风情万种;想象现实生活里她一定是个内向的千娇
百媚的大美人儿。
她的缺点在于化妆总是太浓,似乎是那种烟熏妆,不知道是什么意思。她本人感觉眉清
目秀,恐怕不化妆时要美得多;感觉她演戏的问题在于似乎总是带有心理上的面具,不
能在摄像机前袒露自己的内心。
感觉黑发似乎不是太适合她,想象她金发的样子会很美。

这个问题有点闹心。
什么叫一秒?是一小时的1/3600,一天24小时,一年365天。
可见时间是由地球绕日头决定的。
那我要问:外星球呢?年和天一定不同于地球,因此会有不同
的时间概念。
这也解释了为什么天上一天地上一年的神话,根本就不是同一
时间系统,不一定是什么相对论的问题。
还有,在蚂蚁看来,人的一秒像它们的一分钟,你认为蚂蚁活得短,
那乌龟还认为人活得太短了呢。动作越慢的动物,相对时间活得更长。
时间不是绝对的,是你的感觉而已。
再往深了说,时间是不存在的,是因为你感知了周围变化才有时间
的概念,一旦什么都不变了,时间就停止了,呵呵,但愿你能理解。
总之,干什么事慢点,长寿,但别停干事,至少要喘气,好让时间走。
