w****1 发帖数: 4931 | 6 That is not clear. For elite marathoners, they train to peak twice a year,
and they really go 100% with absolutely
nothing left in the tank. They need competitors to push themselves to the
limit. Easier course doesn't
necessarily mean a faster time. The psychological factor is huge. By the way
, London marathon does have a
fast course, even though it's not the fastest. Paula Radcliffe set her world record in London. |

A Fundamental Foundation
Developing a big aerobic base
One of the key decisions you make as a runner is how to optimize the
effectiveness of your limited training time.
When Running Times readers write in asking whether to do more intervals,
increase their mileage, run hill repeats, etc., my answers always go back to
the physiological requirements of each runner’s goal race. Your aerobic
system provides about 95 percen... 阅读全帖 |

w****1 发帖数: 4931 | 21 Running is 100% physical and 100% mental. Some runners just gain a mental
edge being in the front. Paula Radcliffe always run in the front, even if it

mental strength makes it up for her.

hard training and overtraining. To avoid overtraining is the most difficult
part of distance running. Very often one gets injured when he feels that he

Sixty years ago, people said the four minute mile was impossible: in 1954
they all gasped in disbelief when Roger Bannister proved them wrong. They
also said the 100 metres would never be run in under 10 seconds and
shuddered again when Jim Hines did just that in 1968. Will the 2 hour
marathon be the next great sporting barrier to be broken or will it remain
beyond human endeavour? The question polarises opinion among athletes,
sports scientists and commentators ... 阅读全帖 |

, clearly. Mary Keitany just ran sub 2:20 at London in a nearly solo effort.
Singular talents exist, such as Hicham El Guerrouj. But even his 1500m

unlikely that a group of 7 runners from the same era are faster than
