总部位在德州的美国全球语言观察机构(GLM)透过计算机运算程序追踪全球前7万5000份平面和电子媒体、网络和社群网站，统整出字汇量。除了列出年度英语最常用词组，也统计出最常用单字和名字。
调查指出，反映出全球混乱现况的「占领」(occupy)－不管指的是伊拉克或华尔街－以及「赤字」(deficit)在常用单字榜上位居1、2名。而华人世界很爱用的「3Q」也登上英语最常用单字榜的第8名。
GLM总裁裴亚克表示：「今年上榜的字汇，很大程度都反映影响许多已开发国家的政局和经济不确定性，除了几个较突出的例外，像是英国王室婚礼和中国持续崛起。」
裴亚克说，引用贾伯斯(Steve Jobs)名字的数量，比榜上第2名凯达(Al Qaeda)首脑宾拉丹(Osama bin Laden)多出30%。贾伯斯和胰脏癌抗斗8年后于10月不幸辞世，享年56岁。

《时代》援引英国《每日电讯报》的报道称，每人平均每天“桌怒”两次，有42%的人表示每周一中午之前最易厌烦发怒。
一项调查发现，20%和33%的人认为最易引起“桌怒”的原因分别是老板和同事，其他原因包括同事工作时间逛社交媒体、熘出去长时间抽烟，自己努力工作得不到老板赏识等。还有人表示，当同事借用办公桌后弄得一团糟却不打扫时会非常生气。但只有13%的人表示会与冒犯者正面交涉，64%的人都表示会选择隐忍。

一如往常，这是一个阳光灿烂的冬日午后。或许谁也没想，这样的宁静会在闷声的车辆撞击声，刺耳的砰砰枪声，和绝望的求救声中，宣告结束。

梁警官不恰当的指控。我不由想到自己正在面对的不恰当指控，而且检控官还是我们自

事情开始与一次road rage,一个菲律宾女人在stop sign没有守规矩差点撞上我，我当
时有点激动就cut off她了，然后再她前面逼了她一下，于是她也被惹到，跟着我回到
了apartment gate的口，在我等大门开的时候下车冲了上来，气焰嚣张并出言不逊，我
在她接近了我的车之后才下车，交换了一些dirty words之后，她把手上的太阳眼镜甩
到了我脸上。我出于本能反应还了她一掌，但是我敢保证是非常有分寸的一掌，绝对没
有下狠力，打在了她的头上。她的反应也证实了这一点，她并没有表现出疼痛，继续很
嚣张地骂骂咧咧，并在我迅速回车之后还用力敲打我的车窗。我不想事情闹大就回家了。
她报警，并且和警察说她头晕，警察有检查她的头，完全没有任何可见伤痕或任何肿起
（在警察报告里警察说由于她头发浓密，无法辨别伤痕）。可是警察还是在听说她去医

当一个东西伴随我们成长，我们就会习惯它的存在，它的一切都变得想当然。汉字
对我来说，正是如此，直到有一天刚开始学写汉字孩子问我：
• “为什么“水”是由三条水纹形成的，而不是一条或者两条水纹？而冰为
什么是两点水？”
• “为什么“山”不是一个金字塔形，或者馒头形状，而是上方有三条竖线
？“
• “为什么“目”是竖着的，而不是象眼睛一样横着的？”
• “为什么“牛”和“羊”外形轮廓大致相似——两角四脚，但是“牛”和
“羊”的写法却很不相同？”
我用最粗略的方式告诉他们：汉字原本是民间散乱的象形图画汇合，然后改进演化
而成的。言下之意，没有“为什么？”孩子显然没有认为我回答了他们的问题，但是也
没有再寻根究底。
我有些忐忑不安，因为对孩子问题的敷衍了事。于是我就给他们介绍了仓颉造字的神话
