I don't know what you are talking about here.
simple illustration, say you have an investment vehicle that returns 10%
each year. you tax rate is 30% which is very likely an overestimate of you
effective tax rate.
In terms of retirement accounts:
traditional 401k, you make $1, no immediate tax, after 10 years, it rolls to
$2.59 and you draw it out, govt takes 30% which is $0.77, leaving you $1.82
take home.

不动它，这样可以claim loss，每年上限是3000。
一年到上限了下一年接着用。但是如果，我是说如果，
一个人在A股票上亏了3万，他得10年才能把这个loss
用完。在这过程中，他股市里realized gain可都
是要交税的，包括A股票。那么，如果他对A股票没有
完全丧失信心，是不是应该在30天内买回来，导致wash
sale这样loss的成本加在新买的股票上，从客观上说，
他在这个新的交易中每挣100块，总损失同样是少了
100块。和没有wash sale的区别在于，他的
realized gain也直接减少了100块。
我把3万块分成10年claim loss，无非是去消除我
realized gain的税，还要等10年。如果wash
sale了，直接就消了gain，减了税，是不是更好？
我不知道我理解得对不对 |

你买股票，卖ATM靠。首先，你的exposure是放弃一周内所有的upside收益,而承受所有
的downside风险。而放弃所有upside收益的回报是premium 1块钱。
如果股票涨，那么你的收益就是1块钱。
如果股票跌，跌得少，你仍然赚，跌得多，你就亏。这是容易理解的。因为卖靠是在卖
vol。如果跌得多，就是realized vol高于你卖出的implied vol，也就是你的vol卖便
宜了，所以你就亏了。如果跌得少，就是realized vol低于你卖出的implied vol,所以
你把vol卖了个好价钱，所以你就赚了。
所以赚与赔取决于realized vol的高低。买卖option就是在于你对市场vol走向的判断
。至于roll就是重复这个过程，不断地赌vol的走向。 |

是退休金账户)
首先小妹今年损失比较惨，请各位大牛不要嘲笑 T_T：
比如我今年realized的股票交易总体来说利润是负的，损失 $15,000 ;
但是还没有realized的股票是正的，如果现在卖出总共利润是，$10,000;
没有卖出的股票都准备中到长期持有的。但考虑到交税问题，是不是年末之前卖出再买
进比较好？这样今年的总收益是负的，不用为收益是正的股票交税了。
我的分析是这样的：
如果不在今年把unrealized的卖掉，那我今年损失$15,000， 因为每年capital loss只
能抵税$3,000, 那我这$15,000要五年才能抵完，时间太长了； 而且假设股价不变，明
年以后再卖掉这些盈利的股票，那收益就是+$10,000，我还要多付这部分盈利的税。不
如现在卖出再立刻买进，今年realized的就损失了$5,000，也不用为这部分赚钱的股票
交税了。
这样的想法有没有道理呢？ |

So I was in Chicago Chinatown today, finished a nice lunch with my friends,
enjoying the best day this year as far as weather.
I walked by a Chinese guy sitting there playing his iPhone. Suddenly another
guy started wrestling with him. And the iPhone fell on the ground. I was
very surprised and thought they were two friends kidding each other. And
then they threw the phone about 20 feet away, the African American guy ran

it, you don't feel that horrible.
My brake broke down on highway, when I was driving at 75. I managered to make
a stop before I realized how dangerous it is. It happens at the end of peak
time.
