How shocked and offended will people be if you use this word? Well, that all

The momentum to reclaim glory for USTC continues in
2007. First quarter is usually slow season for charity
donations, but the first month of 2007 became the best
ever January in AF history (toal $13920, comparing
with $6963 the 2nd best January back in Y2000).
USTCAF greatly appreciates following alumni, friends
and corporations for their generous contribution during
January of 2007 to our efforts in helping USTC and
its people.

That's an interesting question. I never thought finalize could
be used this way (or at least not for any practical reasons).
The javadoc of finalize does sound vague or even conflicting.
My guess is if an object is made available in its finalize, next time
it becomes unreachable, the VM won't call finalize and will reclaim
it directly.
I really can't think of any practical stuation where you want to
wait until finalize to "revive" an object.

unreachable,
JVM only call finalize() once! If inside the code, this object is referred by
others, then it will never be reclaimed, so will cause memeory leak. So it
should be careful if you want to override this method().

gc
public static void gc()Runs the garbage collector.
Calling the gc method suggests that the Java Virtual Machine expend
effort toward recycling unused objects in order to make the memory
they currently occupy available for quick reuse. When control returns
from the method call, the Java Virtual Machine has made a best effort to
reclaim space from all discarded objects.
The call System.gc() is effectively equivalent to the call:
Runtime.getRuntime().gc()

well, theoratically, if JVM got killed, all memory claimed by JVM should be
reclaimed by OS, right? It is just a matter how can you be sure the JVM exit
gracefully. Correct me if I were wrong, to my understanding, once outofmem
exception occured, it would be quite unlikely to have JVM exit gracefully by
simply calling system.exit(), best way to do it is kill-9

I googled one for you about system calls - it is a good summary.
http://www.linux-tutorial.info/modules.php?name=MContent&pageid=88
IMHO, you still need to read a good os (not kernel) book to understand the
concept of scheduling, context switch between kernel mode/user mode, IPC, .
..
取走呢?data copy from kernel space to user space

Look at the "Cached:" in /proc/meminfo.
Linux will try to cache memory whenever possible.
Memory at free is memory at waste.
As long as the kernel can reclaim those memory (by
dropping the cache). Kernel is not running out of
memory.
The free memory in kernel is memory that is currently
not used at all, in other words, wasted. The kernel
will try to cache stuff and keep the free memory low.

In java, you are still recommended to manually close an IOStream.
In certain case, you want to do it in a finally block,
that prevents some problem you may see in C++ coz the block is
guarranteed to be executed. It's also notable that since GC will reclaim an
non-referenced instance automatically, this is often not an issue even if
you didn't do that.

yes, we made the same conclusion after we evaluated OSGI.
On other drawback is that there's no guarantee the memory can be reclaimed a
fter a component is unloaded. There's no way for OSGI itself to GC them.

8 bytes ?
# t.py
def t(n):
d = { i:i for i in range(n) }
print( hex(d[n-1]) )
python3 -m timeit -n 2 -r 1 -s 'import t' 't.t(100*2**20)'
2 loops, best of 1: 10.7 sec per loop

main() is a function, program entry point.
If malloc memory in main, and do not free at the code,
the memory is freed after the program exits,the process
or thread is finished. The OS reclaims the resources.
But if this function is NOT main
and the function is called many times, it leaks memory.
You need to learn to program safely, defensively.
In a typical software, there is so many functions.
Each function can have multiple possible exit point.
So if you are not careful, y...
